Yeah, that new outfit is not an improvement.
For one thing, Wendell is not one of nature's head-sock people.

The starfield lined cape does add a bit of cosmic grandeur, and the entire "new costume" deal turns out to be plot relevant, weirdly enough but yeah, I did prefer his original to this Mar-Vell inspired look

Okay, a lot of the new costume is bad...but the starfield in the cape? I dig that.

You know, looking back at this now I'm amused that he basically blew a kid's head off on a hunch.

So much for no killer instinct, Wendell.

While I prefer the later variations, I will begrudgingly admit that his last costume was *very* 80s, and while I think this version is inferior, it's probably a necessary step to get him to his iconic look.

I would groan at Origin being another case of a writer who enjoys continuity flattening the setting he's working in for a pleasing simplicity, but " He simplified things considerably. " heads that off.
