Joker: Folie à Deux came out today. To those who saw it, what were your thoughts?

The audience and critical reaction is negative; I get why people feel that way but in my opinion the film is worth watching with an open mind. I think some people expected Joaquin to be the Clown Prince of Crime after the ending of the last film but this Joker was never like that.

Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga were great as Joker and Harley. The film has an interesting take on their relationship that hasn’t been explored before but it feels natural to their characters. A lot of people hated the musical numbers but they were the highlight of the film in my opinion.

It’s not a film that most would expect for the Joker but there are so many different takes on the character from Romero to Ledger and I feel it’s a valid take.

I haven't seen Joker 2, but I notice a lot of critiques, such as that it asks a bunch of questions then refuses to commit to answering any of them, also apply to the first one.

There's nothing believable about Batman or the Joker, so any attempt to make them believable is going to offend someone. They're just too broken.

Anyone who thought Arthur was going to be the clown prince of crime just didn't understand what the Joker was all about.

Fascinating that we've now had two cases of " they're Jokers, but they're not necessarily the Joker " in live-action Batman adaptations that can be described as loose: Arthur and the Valeska brothers from Gotham.
