It's interesting this comic came out in early 1980. In 1979 there was a Broadway play called Zoot Suit (with a film version released in 1981) that made a lot of white people of that generation (like me) aware of the history and significance of the zoot suit for the first time. I don't know if Fleisher ever saw the play but he would probably have been aware of it.
Whatever the real story behind Martha is, if that's their real name, I'm just going to believe she's a really shredded grandma, I mean look at that gun show.
