Whelp...that was a thing that happened.

I remember asking Tom B who this supposed menace was that Kang and Mantis were so desperate to get away from, and he said it was supposed to be her son.

So hey, at least they had an answer about the vagueness coming!

Also during the fight, Kang says he originally tried to manipulate Hank Pym and that's what caused Hank's breakdowns.

Which has one of the better moments of Avengers Forever when Hank brings it up and told "No one caused your breakdowns. We just gave you a lie you wanted to believe."

Per this story, Kang brainwashed Tony some time around when the Avengers first formed.
Avengers: Forever backtracks that to Immortus having just brainwashed him a little since Operation: Galactic Storm, and overdoing it a little.

Teen Tony isn't dead, he's just badly injured in a way very similar to Tony's original problem with chest shrapnel.
Then Onslaught happens and he does die, then thanks to Franklin Richards is merged with Adult Tony, who is so embarrassed by the whole thing (not the part where he turns evil and murderous) that he'd rather no-one ever speak of it again.
