There’s something monstrous lurking in the wilds of Canada and for once it’s not the Wendigo.

Logan can sniff out the kidnapper, so decides to aid in the search.

Logan and the elder officer inevitably encounter the Hunter in Darkness.

In his delirium, Doolin starts having a flashback to his time in the Second World War and a suspiciously familiar commanding officer.

The hostage tries to escape in the confusion.

Not seen here, but a feral Logan had previously encountered the Hunter in Darkness when he freed it from a bear trap.

Could also have been Great Beasts, Wild Child, Sabretooth, Marrina's relatives and probably dozen or so minor Alpha Flight villains.
