Venom had human teeth in his earliest appearances! The fangs and tongue didn't come until later, as the character grew steadily more unhinged.

I disagree. Venom was at his most unhinged when he had the human teeth. His first lines to Peter were, "Could you be...would you be...my neighbor?" Quoting Mr. Rogers. His logic was also extremely twisted. He blamed Spider-Man for his career falling apart because MAYBE...if he hadn't caught Carter, he wouldn't have killed again and Emir would have taken the fall...completely forgetting that Gregory Emir was in custody when Carter was attacking the Bugle. Never mind that Carter would NOT have stopped.
