I think the first question I always ask whenever I have a story idea is, “Why do people care?” And you look at Game of Thrones and you look at Dune and you ask, “Why do people care about those things?” And I think the answers are fundamentally the same. Because they are stories about powerful people behaving in very petty ways. Because the more power you have doesn’t mean you make wiser, logical decisions. It just means that the terribly emotional decisions you make have dramatic consequences. And dramatic consequences are very good for a story, and people behaving badly is very good for a story. -- Ram V
