I will never understand writers who try to fourthwall insult thier audience for a creative decision nobody asked for and wasn't really needed.
Though I guess at this point , you can't de-age John. I still don't understand why Bendis was allowed to do it in the first place and wasn't forced to put his toys back in the box.
Having Jon exist in the main universe already seems like a move that should've been temporary, tied to Convergence as it is.
Keeping him as Clark and Lois' child son means that any Superman book going forward has to account for him, which - when you've got Clark, you've got Lois, you've got the rest of their supporting cast, you've got whatever Superman plot you want to tell, you can see how he'd very quickly feel like an albatross.
From that point of view, aging him up so that you can more easily handwave him off as doing things elsewhere is appealing.
It always amaze me that DC comics decided to wipe Chris from existence. After everything got reboot to the DC NU universe. Because of flashpoint.
Then when DC decided to merge and mix continuities back together in the main universe. They could have brought Chris back. But no, Jon was Clark and Lois only son. Which writers had to find ways to get him involved in the storylines.
Later we found out that Zod had a son with Ursa named him Lor-Zod. But this Lor-Zod was completely different from the other Lor-Zod aka Chris kent. So he got basically got rebooted.
I guess my main argument to this, is that you can just put John in school or have him with Damian with a off comment.
We still get Batman solo stories despite him having over 5 sidekicks or partners at a time. We can't just say that John is doing something off screen time account for him?
He even has the best grandparents in the world to be staying with if they want him offscreen. Or were they still dead when Bendis was writing the Superman books?
