I don't know if it's ever actually been done, but I'd love to see something like:
Riddler does a crime and leaves out a riddle. A fiendish, nigh-unsolvable riddle. Batman, bored of this, just ignores it. He goes about life. Riddler waits and waits and waits and waits and waits and gets more and more impatient and keeps sending little updates -- extra clues -- and Batman keeps ignoring them. Finally, the Riddler's need for attention and acknowledgment and engagement gets the better of him. He finds Batman. BEGS him to solve the riddle. BEGS for closure. And Batman just... smirks. And Riddler is dragged away to Arkham, a broken man, forever unfulfilled.
You know an early idea for the show was that Batman had the Joker locked up in the Batcave for years. His creepy laugh would echo through the cave, but we'd know that Gotham was finally safe from him.
I’ve always liked “the Last Riddler story” from Batman Adventures.
“I think I need to go back to Arkham. I think I might actually be crazy.”
Eddie realizing he needs help or at least redirecting his mania like in his detective days are good stories for him. But the unending nature of American mainstream comics plus the need to keep making new Riddler action figures means he’s never going to actually get closure.
But after Harley, Harvey, and Ivy, Eddie’s definitely one of the Arkham rogues I could most easily see pulling himself out of it.

(Most of the other borderline cases are scientists of one stripe or another.)
