Showing that it's never too late to come into your true self, the noted comic book writer who created (along with artist Trevor Von Eeden), Black Lightning (amongst others) has come out as transgender at the age of 73.
I'd seen this hinted at on her Facebook, but wanted to see it posted elsewhere before confirming it here, and now thanks to a twitter post she made, we are delighted to welcome creator Jenny Blake Isabella.
She's use that name for creating, as well as her old name of Tony Isabella (Normally I wouldn't deadname, but she seems happy enough to keep using it, so I think it's more of "another name", than a "dead name", but her tags have been amended to Jenny).
Given the number of struggles that trans people have been facing, now moreso than ever, it would have been perfectly understandable if she'd chosen to hide herself, but she has always been known as an advocate for diversity and inclusion, we salute her choice and her courage.
