Maybe. With Lian in charge, there might be cracks like "I'm getting a morality lecture from you? I keep forgetting, which parent was just a government assassin and which one nuked a whole country?"
As much as I'm disliking the book, I would generally love to see Beast Boy get his ass kicked and Cassie to fulfill the idea of progress that DC teased us with when they made Black Canary and Power Girl the chairs of their respective teams.
I wouldn't mind Cassie taking over but not like this :( They're so mean. It makes me sad ;_; (and makes me root for Beast Boy, actually, not sure why... and for Bombshell too...).
Well, Peej doesn't make even a little teeny tiny bit of sense whatsoever - not only does she not really have the skills, she doesn't have the least bit of interest. She's smart enough to know what leadership entails and she values her freedom way too much to give it up like that, especially not when there are other people around who she knows are way better at the job than she could ever be.
Dinah, on the other hand, does have both the skills and the willingness, if required. She just doesn't have the temperament - it's not good for her, and her friends are assholes for even asking it of her and there's no way she could do it long-term without losing who she is.
Cassie should be a perfect pick, but after years of Johns and McKeever she comes across as the worst of the three. :/
At least we know the reason Cassie's attempting to herd the cats that are the Teen Titans, and it makes sense, given her history. With Dinah and Peej, we were just told that they were voted in. It's like Iran!
Also in Dinah's case pretty much everyone from the Trinity on down, including her husband and his boyfriend, Hal, pretty much acted like she wasn't in charge - undermining her from the start. She was in a no-win situation. One could make the case Vixen could make a good head for the next JLA since she was basically the only one from Meltzer's JLA team who hasn't at some point bailed (even lying about her powers to stay on it).
As for Peege, I always thought the Old Guard gave it to her because of her generation she's been the constant one on the team, the one who thinks of the JSA as her family, so they probably figured she deserved it.
Honestly, I don't think the JLA is a team anyone can really lead. It's supposed to be the best of the best of superheroes, who are a very individualistic bunch. Look at the times that the League was at it's best. Could you really point to who was the leader? Who led Morrison's League? Who led the satelite League? The Chairman was more along the lines of the poor sap who got saddled with making sure Green Arrow and Hawkman didn't get into a fistfight at meetings. A group like the League is incompatible with leadership the way Robin (Dick or Tim) led the Titans, or the way Oracle led the Birds.
I think Power Girl's biggest qualification(not those)for leading the JSA at the time was her complete lack of any life outside of superheroing. Seems to me that actually happens a fair amount. It feels like it's Gar's biggest claim tp leading a Titans team
Inorite? And definitely lacking in tension. If Cassie had asked him "what's in that sandwich?" and he'd been like "what does it look like" and the follow text had been like "Find out next issue!" that would actually make slightly more sense as a cliffhanger than this.
Bendis cliffhangers are rather abrupt. Like the issue had the last two pages cut or something like that. Or in "writing for the trade" the writer and artist forgot where each chapter "breaks."
Oh, the toe-curling OOC horror of it all! I almost want to scream. THESE ARE NOT THE CHARACTERS I ADORE!! I want Jaime to leave the team so he can go back to being himself. Maybe he's still salvageable at least.
Oh my sweet Cassie and Gar, what are they doing to you??
Remind me never to even click on Teen Titans scans links anymore.
I felt like Jaime was only OOC for two moments in this fic. Read the bits at the end and a reasonable tone of voice and he feels like he's being pretty sensible.
Do the Teen Titans do anything other than fight amongst themselves these days? Why bother even creating villains for them? It's basically become like a super-powered teen CW drama.
no, they just had to fit in a crossover first. I have a feeling when they first brought Beast Boy in he was just going to become leader. Then someone decided that wasn't dramatic enough. Plus maybe there were enough complaints about it that they modified it a bit.
After all, the Blackest Night issues are likely to feature Donna Troy in charge
I feel like Cassie's playing catch-up a bit here. When Gar first walked in, he kept telling everyone what to do, and Cassie took it as advice since she was insecure from Eddie's death and everything. It seems she's stepping up and realizing how much she's let Gar overstep boundaries. Kind of interesting, but I'd rather Cassie recover her identity through positive experiences of bonding with the team and pursing personal interests rather than fighting an old teammate for the proverbial crown.

I guess they're trying to wring tension out of it by delaying it so long? That really only works if there is some tension IN THE FIRST PLACE.
