Yeah, you got me, I thought Winick was a big 'more lefty than thou' type and this is not something that ever comes up again, it's just another "having fun being a vamp" thing. Well, it's not like True Blood or Vampire Diaries are any better with the "hypnotizing women into sex" stuff, but don't ask me what's up with the big gay rights guys writing rape fantasies while the Mormon lady writes rape-revenge stuff. I can't figure it out, I went to public school.

I found a copy of this in a bookstore. It felt like an ongoing series that got crammed into a five issue miniseries.

I... kind of liked this. It's not great, but it was a somewhat new take on vampires at the time when I read it. To me anyway. Summer movie, instead of art film, kinda.

Honestly, " A professes belief B, but they wrote fictional character C doing action D which is contrary to B " doesn't really work as analysis - taken to its logical conclusion, it's " Anyone who can imagine an act is guilty of the act itself ", which is inane.

Not the same but I've seen a lot of people accuse Stephen King of being a hypocrite because he's in favor of stricter gun restrictions while writing characters who use guns. lol

I don't know, it just surprised me coming from Winick. If it were Greg Pak, I would probably shrug it off as just a poorly thought out plot point--and if Pak wrote a total Long Duk Dong character despite being a big Asian representation guy, I'd be surprised there too.

True Blood at least to the best of my memory (I never rewatched it) never really depicted rape fantasies. The show was upfront that most the vampires were horrible people and they never depicted rape as anything but rape (Franklin and Tara). Even stuff like manipulation (Bill "tricking" Sookie into falling for him) was depicted in a negative light.
