What followed included Blüdhaven police getting jetpacks and laser guns - and Nightwing's suspicions of the givers, Spheric Solutions and its CEO Olivia Pearce.
In issue #122, Nightwing'd discussed those with Blüdhaven mayor Melinda Grayson-Lin and police commissioner Maggie Sawyer.
" So until there's any proof..
" Let me go get you that proof. "
Nightwing swung off to the explosion - the bombing of a Blüdhaven police building, another attack using bombs.
He went after the fleeing bomber.
The vigilante grabbed the Flyboi.
(A couple " jetpacks and laser guns " cops being sent out in response to a police building exploding is a very " militarized " response.)
Light broke in on the dark.
" Maybe everything's just going to keep getting worse. "
" You're trying something new, Dick..
" Maybe they need to see with their own eyes that not everyone in the city is just out for their blood. "
Issue #123 had Mayor Grayson-Lin taking flak for the police bombing..
(This attack ad is " The administration that gave cops jetpacks and laser guns isn't doing enough. Vote for me, and I'll give the police more! ")
.. and Olivia Pearce taking a call.
" I'm guessing you would like to replace the Helios tech lost in last night's explosion? "
" Let's talk budget, Melinda. "
The Flyboi bomber meant that the police station bombing and the previous ones were assumed the work of Blüdhaven's Flyboiz.
Melinda's half-brother Dick confronted the Teddies, the Blüdhaven gang he was loaning a safehouse, over their setting out to avenge their Mama Bear whose death'd evidently been by fly bomb.
Oracle in Nightwing's ear told him about the Flyboi calling him - he swung off.
(Dr. Proboscis, like the Teddies' Mama Bear, died in the bombing at the start of this run.)
Nightwing made his way into where the Flyboi'd called from - a place he described to Oracle as a " charnel house. "
(Reminding the reader of Infinite Crisis to remind them of Nightwing: Renegade.)
" .. exposure to these bodies has had quite the effect on them. "
Nightwing fought off a radiation-mutated Flyboi - more came.
He fled into a room - the room where his caller hid.
(The green dog's another cute animal, monstrously so - " one of [Dr. Proboscis'] early [experiments]. ")
(Without something like italicization in the lettering, you find yourself trying to read phonetic dialogue straight.)
" .. well, you've met them. "
Crystal begged " Help uz, Nightwing. "
(Nightwing's feeling how much he's going to have to mediate between the Teddies and the Flyboiz.)
