I think this is the last time we see the New Mutants interacting with their Normie friends. It’s probably a good thing as they would have been revealed to be mutant-hating bigots any way.

Sam -- totally oblivious to the twelfth degree. It's a good luck that it isn't for hereditary reasons or the Guthrie line would have ended long before him.

Maybe not hereditary, but the case of Joshua, Joelle and that other one suggests it might be a family thing.

Hmm, maybe they're just incredibly lucky then that at least one sibling in each generation has met someone stubborn enough to pummel them over the head until even they have figured "Hey, it's almost if this person was interested in me." And after further five years of pummeling -- the first date.

It's a little detail that fell by the wayside (like so many things from this era), but for a while after this, the New Mutants were all Warlock's friends, but Rahne specifically was "Firstfriend".

After all that effort Emma went to erase Doug's memories of being a Mutant.
Good thing, too.

A bunch of people suddenly descending on the socially awkward, nervous Scottish gal who was nearly killed by a lynch mob.
There was a lot of ways that could've gone very poorly...

Sienkiewicz and Warlock is a magic combination, and it's a pity Warlock's design is so uniquely bizarre that many artists since have struggled with him.

Hello human friends. Goodbye human friends. This is one of the extremely rare instances of Xavier's school actually having more than the most fleeting of associations with actual human teenagers. At least this time around, they all survive the experience.
