he used his body to create web fluid to hold people together. since Reed's elasticity seems to be resistant to what is going on, Reed experimented on his finger... Peter took it a step further and used his body.... apparently Reed is still conscious as well....

In fairness, it wasn't the first plan. Peter originally sought out Venom, but it preferred death over helping him.
