If you’re picking up the Ultimates, for better or worse, you’re getting a Deniz Camp book. You know, it reads like a Deniz Camp book, hopefully different from the other ones that I’ve done because I’m trying not to repeat myself, but still, it’s a representation of me and my interests. I think, at least for me as a reader, that’s what I was always looking for, you know? Like when I was a kid and I realized that the comics I liked weren’t Justice League comics but were Grant Morrison comics. That was kind of like the first big revelation for me about how to read comics was, “Actually it’s not that JLA comics are better than the other comics. It’s that these specific ones written by this specific person are better,” you know, and hopefully that’s part of what the excitement of the Ultimate Universe is. [...] I think it’s totally normal when you’re younger to identify with the characters, or the universe or whatever. That’s just the normal life cycle of things. As you get deeper into something, only then, whatever it is, whether it’s novels or TV or whatever, then you start to realize you start to realize a little bit more about how they’re made and what you’re responding to is the work of people, not this amorphous concept or character. -- Deniz Camp

The weirdest thing about reading this version of the Ultimate is the envy I feel their billionaire class is actually competent.

It's a shame. After her run in Thunderbolts, everything since feels like a letdown.
Going from commanding a twenty-plus crew of supervillains to anything else does that.

... mixed feelings about Emma Frost showing up at all, but that's mainly because regular Emma Frost is just so overused.
But if you have to have villainous Emma Frost, certainly do a lot worse than this.

(though if Emmanuel's the Black King, and there's Emma to be the White Queen with corresponding White King, who might be the Black Queen?)

Pretty sure the closest thing the NUU gets to wacky hijinks is Ultimate Spider-Man.
All other hijinks, hilarity or even general silliness has been dealt with.

Are they still related to Magneto? Because I heard from other forums, that Magneto has been dead for decades in this universe?

They're not related in the regular universe even. Not by blood anyway.

Ah okay. Thank you for the correction. I always assume. They were Magneto's biological children.

It's ambiguous at the moment.
(But Magneto has been dead for some unspecified amount of time - this Ultimate Universe is actually pretty consistent on being frustratingly vague on when things in the past occurred - at the hands of the Eurasian Republic as per Ultimate Wolverine.)
