" .. that thing zapped him to nothing, like he was Mary Worth! "
I get the " comparing ' comic strip characters ' " angle of the line, but it still sounds like that guy's thought about how easy it would be to kill Mary Worth.
Based on Roy's utter disdain for Jack Kirby's writing, and based on what's come out about Roy's tendency to use uncredited collaborators/ghost writers (I was clued into this topic by comments here), it seems clear in retrospect these issues must have been at least cowritten or completely written by Mark Gruenwald and/or Ralph Macchio. When one or both of them take over the credited writing, the transition is seamless.
I wondered about this at the time, since I knew about Gruenwald from his old comics fanzine work and it seemed like he must have been assisting Roy. At the time I assumed that meant giving Roy suggestions or looking over the scripts to spot continuity errors. Now I'm thinking it was more than that.
Founded by girl geeks and members of the slash fandom, scans_daily strives to provide an atmosphere which is LGBTQ-friendly, anti-racist, anti-ableist, woman-friendly and otherwise discrimination and harassment free.
Bottom line: If slash, feminism or anti-oppressive practice makes you react negatively, scans_daily is probably not for you.
