The X-Men return the Reavers’ loot to their rightful owners.

The X-Men divide up the loot to be redistributed.

What’s this, an American comic acknowledging a place in England outside of London?

No idea who the woman is with Magneto. The Marvel wiki doesn’t list anybody recognisable. An off-model Stevie Hunter, perhaps?

Was her mother Kulan Gath?

Next: All-Star Squadron #5.

Given they're at Salem Center, that must be Analie Hogarth, the headteacher of the school there.
(Her most memorable appearance being in the Very Special Issue with Larry Bodine.)
Guess she wanted to spend more time with "Mike" Xavier.

... question: What was the reason the X-Men couldn't tell the New Mutants they weren't dead again?

(also: good grief with the overabundance of unnecessary pauses.
He really is doing it on purpose.)

Bascially, the X-Men had a plan on standby* to fake their own deaths, thus flatfooting their enemies and allowing them to operate from the shadows. They also had to ensure that everyone else believed them, to stop any rogue telepaths who might find out, from doing so.

Before they did do this though. real life intevened and so they seized the opportunity that presented itself came when they DID die, facing the Adversary and which deaths were instantly, and conveniently, annulled by Roma, who also gave them a spell which ensured that no technology could pick them up, to allow them to return and operate off grid in the Australian outback, with a handy new character plot-device global range teleporter on call.

Now, someone might ask, and quite reasonably, as to why they were prepared to swan off, leaving their junior team, already mourning the ACTUAL loss of a team member AND one mourning the loss of her brother AND with a Headmaster now allying himself more closely with the Hellfire Club AND showing worrying signs of returning to villainy following Cypher's death AND still living at the same place as the X-Men had presumably kept all their cool shit (and they had) should anyone opportunistically choose to try get hold of it.

They didn't tell Kitty, Kurt (both recuperating on Muir Island) or X-Factor either.

But such absurd questions are for lesser beings and so are to be ignored, because the series sure as hell did.

* presumably based on Chuck's tendency to fake his death at the absolute drop of a hat... any hat
