The ultimate point of this story *I think* is that Doom will always ultimately fail because he's incapable of recognizing that he has any flaws or that anyone else could ever possibly be on his level. Sure, the Living Tribibunal saw "Love" for Valeria in Doom's soul - but love can be a lot of things, and one of them is *selfish*.
Doom made the "sacrifice" he did because he's unwilling to be wrong. Everything Reed said to him at the end was 100% right.
That does fit with North's interpretation of Doom. When he repeated failed to use time travel to save Valeria from being trapped in the time-vanished Baxter Building, his own failure was so intolerable he basically retconned that version of himself out of existence.
Part of me wonders if they’ll pick a multiverse version of Doom that’s Tony for MCU synergy (obviously that part is just speculation, idk what the MCU is doing there), more or less what they did with Fury. At this point I wouldn’t put anything past them.
I love Doom and I hate this shit. Same problem with Thanos.
What's the point of these massive circle jerk *insert character here is better than all your favs and the only one who can beat them is themselves* stories? Who is this for?
Sorry, Nameless Latverian Peasants. You're still quite dead and nobody's going to do anything to resurrect you. Should've thought of that before you were a peasant!
Doom'll be back by next December. I'm thinking maybe some sort of situation where there's a situation so bad they'll need to resurrect Doom just to have a chance, and he'll be all irritable about it. The Doom Imperative! ... ... Sounds like something you'd buy in an airport bookstore because the plane's not going to be there for five hours.
(still think that despite his name on the title at least some of this wasn't all North's work, but Editorial / Marketing / Shadowy Overlords insisting on parts of it. Can't trust a writer to write, y'know. They might do anything.)
The same week that Marvel publishes The Ultimates, with an underground, global effort to upset fascism involving everyone, no matter how lowly, they publish this, a nine-issue mini with super-heroes throwing themselves pointlessly against a dictator over and over only to discover he can only be beaten if he chooses to relinquish power because he's so awesome.
Also, since Doom's gone now, I guess Dormammu immediately returns and destroys the world? Wasn't that established earlier in this series?
Given that we're getting a miniseries to determine who the new Sorcerer Supreme even is, I think Dormammu has more than enough time to pop into Earthrealm and destroy everything.
