As has become traditional, we'll have two posts for the New Year. The old today, and the new tomorrow.

As the fires of 2025 becomes embers, we are reminded that it has seen us lose visionary creators including: Robert Orci, Jackson Guice, Peter David, Jim Shooter, Nancy Burton, Marie-Mad, Drew Struzan, Dave Taylor and David Lynch.

We may not have always agreed with some of the choices made, but these were influential figures. We honour their passing and thank them for their contributions to the art form we love.

And, in the spirit of remembering;

1) What were your favourite new comics this year?

This could mean:
  • Single issues?
  • Storylines?
  • Imprints?
  • Favourite new character(s)?
  •
These can be new titles, or long established ones having a new breath of life blown into them?

(We don't want to know your least favourites, lets keep this positive)

Also

2) What were your favourite scans posted here on S_D, be they new or old?

Tomorrow we look to the future, but today, as we balance between the new and the old.... we look back... as long as we don't look down!

I have been thoroughly enjoying tcampbell1000's Justice League International posts. Special thanks to them for pocking up my Fantastic Four posts as well. I love how everything was so well thought outl

I haven't got the memory to come up with answers, unless it's "Ditto!" after someone else lists theirs, but I have to say my thanks to the whole community for being a rock in the madness of this year. So, thanks and a happy new year!

Absolute Batman was probably my favorite title this year.

After that I’ve been enjoying Amazing Spider-Man with Norman as Spidey.

I started "WrestleHeist" from Image a week or so ago and really dug it.

Also, hubby got me 4 of the 5 collections of "Wayne Family Adventures" for Christmas (already had the 4th volume) and binged through them stat.

Remembrance to Rob Reiner and Michelle Singer Reiner for their unfair passing this month.

My favorite storyline would probably be the recent GI Joe storyline where Baroness and Cover Girl went to Europe and fought Raptor and Bludd

I was able to find a copy of the first Sandman Mystery Theater compendium cheap. That was good, so I got a slightly less expensive than normal copy of the second one.
In the afterword writer Steven T. Seagle talks about how this is the fourth collection of the series and the first one to actually make it to the end. Also towards the end the comic wasn't selling very well and when planning out the next story line they'd ask if they'd been cancelled. Once again they were told no, only for it turn out they had in fact been cancelled. So they had to cram a four issue story into two. Fairly solid conclusion considering the circumstances.
