So the Blue is water, Green is plants, Red is animals, Grey is fungi

but Blue is also hope, Green is will, Red is rage, Grey is... sorrow?

And neither of these subsets are connected.

And AFAIK no one has connected Rainbow Raider to the emotional spectrum which is a shame.

The Black and Black Lanterns are both death-based, but I don't think that's ever been connected either.

I'd say it's more that comics are a visual medium, so color ends up significant.
