" I will be interested to see how the world deals with you. For I shall learn [from that] - how one day it will deal with me! "
Wondering if the current Cap run's " fresh-from-the-ice Steve was sent on a mission to Latveria, where he wondered if Doom was ' the new Hitler ' " was sparked by this - a Doom/Hitler parallel isn't so immediately obvious an idea.
Specifically Doom. Was he here by time travel? Maybe I missed it, but I saw no mention of it.
And if there wasn't, that basically makes him older than Magneto, who they've had to play with in order to keep him around in the sliding timeline. Have they been doing that with Doom as well? And what about the FF? Are they affected as well, since this seems to be after he left the university he shared with Reed and Ben?
I'll bet that was a sliding timescale retcon. Reed Richards and Ben Grimm were once established as having served in World War II after college graduation. Ben was a fighter pilot in the Pacific Theater, Reed was with OSS. Post-accident Doom would fit into that timeline just fine.
I was kind of expecting Bandage Man to turn out to be Loki somehow. Because, y'know. Thor. Loki.
Doom declaring himself to be evil is... odd. But then, Roy Thomas. (I mean, before uh, well, this, the worst Victor had done was annoy nobles through Latveria, misuse college property and cause some mild property damage.)
I'm glad you included these particular pages, because it's always seemed like a big scripting error that Victor's identity reveal comes at the halfway point in the issue, and in a very anticlimactic way, when it works so much better at the end of his confrontation with Hitler. Perhaps it was down to the speed with which the dialogue was written that Thomas didn't go back and remove the earlier, lesser reveal? Or maybe this issue was partially ghost-written by someone else and one hand literally didn't know what the other was doing? Either way, it's a fumble for what could have been an epic moment. Forgive the nitpick, but this has bothered me since this issue was new on the stands.
Also, that last page is some heavy duty, industrial strength, family size continuity stitching if I ever saw it.
