And thus, forged in the fries of battle, a resolute super-team that exemplifies cameraderie and teamwork:



Atomica's origin is pretty rubbish (somehow Ryan Choi made a magic potion that gives super-powers when you drink it? How lazily convenient.) so half of her back-up here is more of an epilogue to the main story:

The thing about a " subversive " (" Justice has no home here ") story in 2021 where the bickering-amongst-themselves powerful idiots get almost everything they want while breaking everything else is that one must've been leading an awfully ideal life to think that's subversive.

(Not being morally prescriptive - there's always room for a story like this in the world - but the execution is still " eh. " Kurt Busiek did " there were heroes on Earth-3 and then they lost " as one story in a Secret Files and Origins - that Andy Schmidt needed half of a six-issue miniseries for the same doesn't exactly shine in comparison.)

Again, I think this was so drawn out because DC hoped to get an ongoing out of it - hence those numerous epilogues setting up where all the characters are. They did manage to squeeze in two three issue arcs rather than drawing out the Starro business to fill the whole series so... that's something?
