What's with that title? "Earth's Mightiest Mutant"? Why is Marvel glazing her so hard? She's powerful, sure, but c'mon. She's not Proteus or Hope. There are mutants that can easily control reality, but SHE'S Earth's Mightiest Mutant?

I mean, I feel like it's referencing her being an Avenger currently. "Earth's Mightiest Heroes" and she's the resident mutant on the team currently, especially since Wanda is still in the MCU penalty box.

But she's also getting glazed by Eternity -- I'm not sure what getting Eternity as a hitchhiker does to your powers, but it probably didn't hurt.

Eternity told Hank Pym he was the universe's Scientist Supreme, so...

I thought that was explained away as Loki having a good laugh at Hank's expense.

That's what Loki said, anyway. It's Loki, so he could have been lying - but since the concept has never been mentioned again, there's probably no Scientist Supreme.

Well, there's a couple of Scientist Supremes, but they're not the Scientist Supremes of the whole universe.

Grr, the true title of AIM's leader is the Supreme Scientist, but somewhere down the line it got twisted, and now everyone calls them the Scientist Supreme. It's very annoying, in a nitpicky way.

Yeah, I recall in an old issue of Man-Thing where Barbra Bannister was briefly made into an avatar of Death, it took her about two panels to flip Thog the Nether-Spawn (a more doofus-y peer of Mephisto and Satannish) from gloating about his imminent victory to blowing up his own castle in terror to escape her. That's pretty directly comparable to one of Franklin Richards' more noteworthy feats, so it's possible that Ororo is as advertised on the tin for this series.

Storm learning magic from Doctor Voodoo. Okay, yeah, there's a whole thing about her having a connection to magic. (And it's not like Jericho's got anything better to do with his time anyway.)
Fighting various gods across the multiverse. Sure, why not?

But her mom being some sort of time-travelling astronaut (also a priestess)?
Whut.

... apart from anything else, that was just Star Trek Discovery.

Maggott actually shows up in this issue. He somehow ended up in the Greek afterlife, which is currently ruled by the daughter of Hades and Persephone. Said daughter also recently killed Chronos.

Me three. More mutants should be utter weirdos. Storm gave Maggott his greatest moment: the time he spent literal days eating a dead space kaiju so he has enough power to take out a thunder god in one hit.

Wild that readers can go ape for "man with a living alien goo costume that eats people" but "man with a couple of cute worms made out of his own guts" is somehow a bridge too far...

He has a very cool visual too, and who doesn't love his subcontracted digestive systems Eeny and Meeny?

Funny you should say that. This comic has Storm travel to the wall at the edge of the multiverse, which is covered with the petrified forms of explorers who have been there previously. You can see it behind the talking fish.

Huh. You'd think if anyone would have heard of the Orishas, it would by the woman whose magic tutor was called Doctor Voodoo, but maybe he got kidnapped before that lesson.

I'm afraid NO ONE can adequately grasp the sheer level of batshit this story has become. I still don't know what the creator has on someone at Marvel to allow him to go this far off the rails, but it must be impressive.

This is so very much not a Storm worthy storyline. This should have been a creator-owned comic instead.

I can't seem to parse how the line is meant to be read. Is it "Welcome...TO DIE!" or "welcome to die" like the first half of the sentence is missing. Or some other third option my brain can't fathom

I have a feeling the intent of the original line was meant to be along the lines of "Welcome to your doom!" but then translation happened as it often did in that era.

MAN this run is weird and rough. The dialogue in particular is pretty bad all around.

Luckily, this got downgraded to a five-issue miniseries from an ongoing, so I await how another writer will be able to follow this up. Maybe it was all a dream?

At least it's not just Shadow King again and again and again.
