If it's available "just for people on USA TODAY PLAY" (which I'm assuming is a trendy name for "digital version of USA Today"), then it's not "back in your friendly neighbourhood newspaper," is it? That phrase implies syndication to any newspapers who choose to pay for it.

Limited as the audience is, it's still an attempt to market comics that isn't " Hey, pay $3.99+ for 18-22 pages that's as likely to be counting on previous investment in the character as it is to be something satisfying in and of itself. "
