Since we have a clear lack of samurai rabbits here I decided to post up something from the past free comic book day since it's pretttty short. Thus only three pages, (The comic in total was six pages) but hey, at least its in full color? Derp, apparently Free comic book day scans are aokay to post. So I've posted the whole story under the cut.

For those not sure what I'm babbling about, let me clarify the best way I can: Usagi Yojimbo is a historical fiction comic, an epicaly awesome one that mixes history, talking animals and win all in one.

Uh, yeah, obviously I'm biased. But it really is worth a read, I've learned so much about that time period from just reading this comic, along with that it has honestly touching characters that feel real, react like they would in that time period and never jump on the usual cliches one associates with 16th century Japan.

Knew she was going to be trouble. ;) How I do adore this book. I still need to pick up the new hardcover, but waiting to see if anyone surprises me at Christmas. Mmmm...full-color Usagi. <3

Hah, you should see the last three pages, they just make this even more surreal.

Have you picked up the paperback trades? They're pretty nicely put together and not too expensive. (Where I am it's at least sixteen to seventeen dollars tops.)

Oh, yes. All the trades and Space Usagi. And it's on my monthly pull. It's not quite in "you will have to pry this comic from my cold, dead hands" territory, but it dances on the borders of it. ;)

Heh, it rests quiet firmly on that territory for me. It's how I catch up on the comics history without having to buy all the single issues. (Though I still do, I nearly cleaned out my local comic shop of Usagi Yojimbo, their archives are hurting thanks to my oddness.)

I guess I should also mention that the new hardcover -- "Yokai" -- isn't that much more expensive than the trades; I think it's a little less, actually and something like $10 at Amazon. I'm just trying not to contribute further to the holiday awkwardness around the homestead if I can help it. ;)

Heh, if I accumulate any more money I'll probably end up buying that too. Because damn it I'm willing to give Stan Sakai my money if he keeps being awesome.

I just got my copy and it is AWESOMESAUCE...if I wasn't worried about breaking the book I'd be scanning it like a mad woman!

This is coming from the girl who has pretty much every single Usagi Trade...in HARDCOVER I am missing just one oh Book 3 how you elude me so...

Haha, hopefully Stan enjoys our money :B I'm pretty sure I might end up doing that too. I will need a new shelf for my awesome comics now, damn.

Maybe ask your local comic shop to try and order it? Mine usually tries to do that for people, though they're a little flakey about calling you once they have what you ordered.

I farking WISH, I didn't get into Usagi till Book 6-7 was being published and Stan was moving from Fanagraphics to Mirage.

While I have Book 3 as Softcover, I'm looking to replace it with a Hardcover version, all of which were signed and limited editions, I've seen a Book 3 HC show up on eBay once in a blue moon but I usually get outbid on it.

I could be wrong, but I'm fairly certain that if it's from Free Comic Book Day, posting limits are not a problem, since it's something that was given out for free anyway. I seem to recall the mods saying something to that effect on the last board.

Free comic book day. Darkhorse was giving out a free comic full of their various series. My day was pretty much made when I found this in there.

And since I apparently can post all of it I'm going to edit and put the last three pages up.
