Blood Brawl! The first encounter between Lobo and Superman.

Greetings True Believers! I was going through a few old boxes and I found an old TPB called Superman: Eradication! Most of it has to do with Superman's struggles with a Kryptonian artifact called The Eradicator. It also showcases Lobo's first battle with the Man of Steel. It's pretty good and the Superman TAS episode based off it makes more sense now. Enjoy! P.S. There's a quasi-cameo, can you guess who?
On further thought, this fight reminds me of the movie, The Hangover.

For your totally out-of-context preview pleasure: Superman advises all of us to keep our pimp hands strong.




So these two shark-alien dudes hear that Superman is a bad-ass so they send Lobo to Earth to kill him. They give him a recording device so they can sell the bootleg DVD.




So Lobo begins his epic journey to drunkenly kick Superman's ass. On the way there he has an encounter with Draaga, another alien on his way to Earth to fight Superman.




Oh my god! There's something on the wing!





Lobo wanders into the Ace of Clubs and makes a new friend.




Drunk logic. Gotta love it.




They fly off to Superman's Fortress.




They finally catch-up with Superman. Note: Superman is acting oddly because the Eradicator. Do you think he would fought Lobo better under his own steam?










They fight through Superman's holodeck.




Ouch. Hyper-punch.




Supes grabs a battle-suit and Lobo grabs some kryptonite.




Supes has a plan.







Bibbo has a new man-friend! But all they killed was a hologram but they are so wasted they neither know nor care.







I liked this story. Lobo before he became overexposed. It's quick and funny.

So the blonde girl tending Luthor is called Chloe?!? Hah! So much for her future!..
-Yeah , I know this is pre-smallville, But it's a funny coincidence nontheless..

Speaking of weird coincidences, so Lobo's going round calling himself "The Best there is at what he does" Heh! Guess it was inevitable then that he ended up in a bar fight with Wolverine, when their universes started duking it out..

He's the best there us at what he does and he can occasionally actually remember what that is.

The panel where he first punches Lobo and says "Get out now." Superman punched him so hard that, like that ripoff Captain Marvel from way back when, his own head flew off, and I'm guessing immediately reattached itself.

I mean, given he's not Ralph Dibny. Lookit. And the anatomy was doing almost okay for a while...

Superman was awfully weak here. Was this normal for his powers at this time or had he been weakened?

That was my thought back when... we'd seen Superman survive a point-blank nuke detonation with no injury (though it did stun him and make him pass out shortly after), and no way do I buy that Lobo is hitting him harder than that here.
