Without asking or mentioning it to Mia, Ollie decides to take her to SanFran and dump her in Titans Tower. Which is probably where she needs to be to escape from her mentor's gigantic hand.

I love that Ollie has no trouble telling her she's family. Holy moly, Cyborg, you're huge!! O.O

So she meets the Titans who make brief mention of Arrowette which is awkward. Ollie suggests Mia spar with someone on the team.

When I think of Arrow-Bat rivalry, I always think Black Cat.

Tim and Mia have a staring contest (later there were thumb wars).


They duke it out thanks to Cyborg's weird Jamiroquai floors. She gets in a few good shots but ultimately loses due to some bizarre butt-grabbing move I can only assume Bruce traumatized his Robins with during training.

Gah, Tim, you look so frightening! And why the face in the crotch? You're skeeving me out!

Even though she loses, Ollie is a proud papa.



What kind of beer does Wonder Woman like?

Eventually, Mia did tell them she had HIV and I wish I could find the scan because it was quite sweet. Bart confessed to stealing Beast Boy's underpants to make her feel better. :)

My guess is they were both gassed with Joker's laughing gas during the sparring match. That's the only explanation.

Really liked this issue. Really miss the happier days of the Arrow family, and I really miss this costume of Mia's. The red tones and the pointed cape are much better than her drab gray outfit with the giant cape.

Right? I remember her telling Tim on their first mission, "if I get hurt or anything, just let me take care of it." Not the most responsible approach, so I'm glad they had her tell them sooner rather than later.

It's a nice idea for DC to actually approach HIV as it is (and was in '05) - a chronic illness and not necessarily a fatal one - but I can't believe with all the line-of-duty as well as recreational blood letting that Ollie wouldn't have been more insistent about telling at least Tim.

Don't feel bad, Mia. The set of people who lose fights to Tim is very large and includes most of the scariest folks you've ever heard of.

Also, how could Bart have gotten those pizzas that fast? Even if he ignored the staff at the pizza place and made them himself, it takes a certain amount of time to cook a pizza. There is no way to reduce that time; increasing the heat will just get you charred pizza.

Maybe he got the pizzas, then traveled back in time twenty minutes so he could show off for the new girl?

I don't think anything that complex is required. Just assume that Robin phoned the pizza place a half hour earlier (like ordinary people do) to place the order, and asked for a couple of spares to be made of assorted types so that they'd be sure to have something Mia wanted if she stuck around to eatbut didn't want to pressure her if she wasn't comfortable. Bart was just on the collection run and picked the spare Hawaiian, he left the QuatroFromaggio and the Meat Feast behind.

Another explanation is that Bart is constantly running into the shop and picking up a different mix of pizzas so they always have an assortment ready for him. And considering Bart's appetite, that's a pretty good business model.

Or he just stole other people's refreshly made pizzas from assorted Pizza places.

He paid for them of course, but those shops needed to make new ones and lost out on tips from deliveries for making customers wait twice as long.

A lot of places will make "extra" pizzas to sell slices or have ready if it's in high demand among their customers. With most places it's just cheese, pepperoni, and a few others depending on the place, but which the other ones are will vary. So Bart knows one pizzeria in California that always keeps an extra couple Hawaiians ready, and a place in Detroit that does the same with vegetarians, and yes, there's even one place in Portland that does it with that thing Raven likes.

I imagine by now they're all used to a pizza disappearing and a little envelope full of money with "THANKS GUYS (smiley face, lightning bolt)" written on it appearing.

I love the kind of stuff in this comic. Especially, for some reason, Ollie's saying that you need friends as well as family. Given how fraught the most loving superhero families can be, I like it when they recognize how important friendship is because of it. (And for other reasons.)

(I'm relatively new to S_D so I'm honestly too chicken to post anything in fear of me violating some copyright law or what have you but) This happens a week before Teen Titans #21 as said by Tim. Mia arrives in San Fran by cab and takes this secret, underwater pod to Titans Island. On the next page you see Robin, SB, KF, WG, Raven and BB in a training exercise to take down what looks like Crazy!Cyborg. She takes him out in like 2 seconds with a freezing arrow mistaking that Cyborg was 'malfunctioning'. Tim corrects her saying it's just a training exercise.

She also disses Conner.

Then the Dr. Light saga happens.

Then in issue 23 she tells the team she has HIV and KF tells everyone he's been stealing BB's underwear.
