As Carol shows here, she decided, in light of Xaviers choice, that she wanted nothing further to do with the X-Men since they weren't helping her anyway, and as Binary left Earth for a long, long time to be with the Starjammers in Shi'ar space.

Rogue wasn't allowed to forget what she'd done for a long time, and Wolverine, who had been good friends with Carol, was particularly harsh towards her, until the aforementioned Mariko incident.
