This is from the Crime Syndicates first appearance "The Most dangerous Earth of all" from SD1.0 (it was never tagged)

Also I thought the Specter feature was incredible. It could easily been a feature written by James Ellroy :)

Date: 2010-02-25 05:58 pm (UTC)Personally, I don't feel Batman's responsible for killing Owlman. Owlman had the chance to press the big red "ABORT Y/N?" button. Quick, on the other hand...yeah. I see what they were going for (that if forced, Batman would rather trick an enemy into dying than sacrifice a friend), but it was pretty grim. Still, Quick knew it was dangerous.
Gina Torres was fantastic. I think it was one of the JLU commentary tracks where they talk about the decision to make Vixen (played by Gina) a recurring character involved with GL. Bruce Timm is all "Why did we do that?" and Dwayne McDuffie is all "Because we are in love with Gina Torres, you dolt!"

Date: 2010-02-26 05:46 am (UTC)It still makes little if no sense, as does much of it, but that's just JLA back then; great concepts, ridiculous execution.

Date: 2010-02-25 10:12 pm (UTC)There were a few things that perturbed me:
- Batman's voice
- the creepy sexual vibes of Superwoman (that collar was just blech)
- Ultraman being utterly annoying 100% of the time
Otherwise I enjoyed it. I related somewhat to Owlman's attitude. I think it would have been better with less action and more character interaction, but ah well. I hope they give Flash a movie at some point. Wally's always entertaining to me in the animated Justice League.

Date: 2010-02-25 11:34 pm (UTC)It's quite amusing how writers seemingly can't resist the temptation of giving Wonder Woman an Invisible Jet, but I thought the Rose/J'onn relationship was a bit more creepy than endearing. I definitely didn't need to see them having Martian Mindsex in a car.
Knooooow meee.. *shudder*
But really, I would've loved the movie just for the Evil Detroit League. How can you not love something that features Punk Rock Ralph Dibny?

Date: 2010-02-27 12:40 pm (UTC)*-- a character who uncovered the secret and posed as their uncle, who also had powers but didn't use them because of a condition called Shazambego. It was a lie, and they all knew it, but the man was endearing and didn't get in the way, so they let him think he had them fooled.

Date: 2010-02-26 02:20 am (UTC)* Fifty-two Earths? HA! Infinite Earths, baby! Don't even try to count them.
* I think Carl Lumbly is awesome as J'onn, but this J'onn's voice was really, really different, I loved how tender he sounds.
* Owlman will always sound like a heavily-sedated Disney!Hades to me from now on.
* Naked Lex reading a newspaper. "Uh ... pants?" XD
* The Jester already had a first-class ticket straight to my heart courtesy of the Jokester. Don't tell Harley Quinn that her counterpart is a monkey! XD Poor little Harley. ;_;
* Diana yells "SUBMIT!"
* Diana punches a tied-up Superwoman to shut her up. This is not our Diana, I was shocked, but I loved it anyway after I stopped laughing.
* Owlman created the invisible jet that Diana steals and decides to keep in this universe. Who is this Amazon? XD
Problems!
* Owlman wants to destroy infinity? And then Superwoman thinks it's a good idea? Meh. I hate when evil people want to destroy instead of control. Especially when they want to destroy in-goddamn-finity.
* J'onn's thing is being the last of his kind, I don't think it was right to have him in a love story. He will never be alone, but he'll always ache for his wife and child.
* Bruce effectively killing Johnny Quick, and failing to bring Owlman back. Who is this Batman? XP
Other...
* Hey, there's Hal, where's Barry? Hey, there's Wally, where's John?
* An ideal counter-Earth for me would have a Legion of Freedom to counter the Crime Syndicate. The idea that the bad guys killed off all the good guys except for Lex makes a lot of sense, but where's the fun.
* On the other hand, these are just two of an infinite number of Earths, so anything goes.

Date: 2010-02-26 02:40 am (UTC)I figured John was on vacation or working special missions in space or Oa or something. Would've been nice if they'd acknowledged that Hal was just subbing...Unless this wasn't part of the JLU universe, I did notice a Starro fighting scene.

Date: 2010-02-26 05:41 pm (UTC)It's pretty obvious that the script was obviously written to fit in JLU continuity (it shows the new watchtower and its teleport technology being built, explains the appearance of Wondy's plane, and even basically ends with the establishment of the new League in "Initiation"), though, so despite the different voice actors and character designs, I prefer to think of it as a part of DCAU canon.
