Also I thought the Specter feature was incredible. It could easily been a feature written by James Ellroy :)

I thought it was pretty good right up until the ending where Batman killed Owlman and Johnny Quick.

Eh, I didn't mind it. Wasn't the fate of the entire Multiverse hanging on the balance at that moment?

And Quick got to die a hero. I enjoyed the toon. You got to see many DC characters who have never been animated before.

He didn't kill them. Johnny Quick was a decision between Flash and Johnny, the fact that he tricked one over the other is a Batman like decision. Its not even like I won't kill you but don't have to save you; its someone is going to die, might as well be you. As for Owlman it was very clear Owlman had the ability to turn that bomb off before it blew up, he just didn't care. Now you can argue that leaving him on an abandoned planet that would freeze him is as good.... well I'll concede that.

JQ did volunteer; it could be cast in the light of noble sacrifice, even if he wasn't fully briefed on the consequences of the act he knew the consequences of failure and accepted the task.

Love J'onn's new design. Found Spider-man as the Flash amazing. Owlman was quite evil with a surprisingly good costume. Want more Justice League.

I thought it was awesome. It was mostly just plot/fights, but that's always fun to watch. Not much in the way of character development (besides Owlman and Superwoman...they were pretty awesome), but it was entertaining.

Loved it. All the fight sequences were great. Diana was awesome in all of them. Batman eating Flash's pretzel, Superwoman "playing" with Batman, J'ohn's new costume, the invisible plane, Jester, Rose & Slade.. they were all great though Superwoman and Owlman stole the show.

We need more Justice League. Very very entertaining.

I had almost forgotten how completely awful the original Crime Syndicate costumes were. Man, they are just baaaad.

Personally, I don't feel Batman's responsible for killing Owlman. Owlman had the chance to press the big red "ABORT Y/N?" button. Quick, on the other hand...yeah. I see what they were going for (that if forced, Batman would rather trick an enemy into dying than sacrifice a friend), but it was pretty grim. Still, Quick knew it was dangerous.

Gina Torres was fantastic. I think it was one of the JLU commentary tracks where they talk about the decision to make Vixen (played by Gina) a recurring character involved with GL. Bruce Timm is all "Why did we do that?" and Dwayne McDuffie is all "Because we are in love with Gina Torres, you dolt!"

Why is the JLA and JSA so concerned with the CSA's opinion of where they'll get imprisoned?

Because they know the CSA are sneaky bastards, with a habit of preparing nasty contingency plans. Their reluctance to be imprisoned on Earth-1 or Earth-2 was a clue that they had set bombs in both places.

That makes sense on the CSA end.

The heroes were deliberately baiting the CSA to check their reactions?

It's sort of a Br'er Rabbit thing with the CSA, where they're trying to look the opposite of how they really feel.

It still makes little if no sense, as does much of it, but that's just JLA back then; great concepts, ridiculous execution.

I was surprised I enjoyed it as much as I did because I was so utterly bored by the Wonder Woman and Green Lantern movies. The action in this one was quite good, and I really enjoyed J'onn's storyline (although I kept thinking of current canon Rose Wilson and it made my eyes cross a bit). Nice to see Black Canary as well.

There were a few things that perturbed me:

- Batman's voice
- the creepy sexual vibes of Superwoman (that collar was just blech)
- Ultraman being utterly annoying 100% of the time

Otherwise I enjoyed it. I related somewhat to Owlman's attitude. I think it would have been better with less action and more character interaction, but ah well. I hope they give Flash a movie at some point. Wally's always entertaining to me in the animated Justice League.

I just saw that last night and enjoyed it very much. Good, faithful interpretation of characters, snappy , believable dialogue and a plot with sufficiently high stakes and pretty cool action sequences.
It's quite amusing how writers seemingly can't resist the temptation of giving Wonder Woman an Invisible Jet, but I thought the Rose/J'onn relationship was a bit more creepy than endearing. I definitely didn't need to see them having Martian Mindsex in a car.
Knooooow meee.. *shudder*
But really, I would've loved the movie just for the Evil Detroit League. How can you not love something that features Punk Rock Ralph Dibny?

I don't think so, but I had the same confusion - the armbands made those suits look very Black Adam, especially when they were whizzing around before we got a good look at them.

Finally decided they're some kind of tech-suits to give them "powers", though.

Yup. Evil Billy, Evil Freddy, and Evil Uncle Marvel*.

*-- a character who uncovered the secret and posed as their uncle, who also had powers but didn't use them because of a condition called Shazambego. It was a lie, and they all knew it, but the man was endearing and didn't get in the way, so they let him think he had them fooled.

Love!

* Fifty-two Earths? HA! Infinite Earths, baby! Don't even try to count them.
* I think Carl Lumbly is awesome as J'onn, but this J'onn's voice was really, really different, I loved how tender he sounds.
* Owlman will always sound like a heavily-sedated Disney!Hades to me from now on.
* Naked Lex reading a newspaper. "Uh ... pants?" XD
* The Jester already had a first-class ticket straight to my heart courtesy of the Jokester. Don't tell Harley Quinn that her counterpart is a monkey! XD Poor little Harley. ;_;
* Diana yells "SUBMIT!"
* Diana punches a tied-up Superwoman to shut her up. This is not our Diana, I was shocked, but I loved it anyway after I stopped laughing.
* Owlman created the invisible jet that Diana steals and decides to keep in this universe. Who is this Amazon? XD

Problems!

* Owlman wants to destroy infinity? And then Superwoman thinks it's a good idea? Meh. I hate when evil people want to destroy instead of control. Especially when they want to destroy in-goddamn-finity.
* J'onn's thing is being the last of his kind, I don't think it was right to have him in a love story. He will never be alone, but he'll always ache for his wife and child.
* Bruce effectively killing Johnny Quick, and failing to bring Owlman back. Who is this Batman? XP

Other...

* Hey, there's Hal, where's Barry? Hey, there's Wally, where's John?
* An ideal counter-Earth for me would have a Legion of Freedom to counter the Crime Syndicate. The idea that the bad guys killed off all the good guys except for Lex makes a lot of sense, but where's the fun.
* On the other hand, these are just two of an infinite number of Earths, so anything goes.

Hey, there's Hal, where's Barry? Hey, there's Wally, where's John?

I figured John was on vacation or working special missions in space or Oa or something. Would've been nice if they'd acknowledged that Hal was just subbing...Unless this wasn't part of the JLU universe, I did notice a Starro fighting scene.

I agree. The new orbital HQ looked like they deliberately made it extra huge, Arthur had short hair and no beard, Hawkwoman nowhere to be seen. I think this is just a different universe where Wally and Hal are charter members. I just had trouble adjusting every time I saw Hal, he looked so out of place.

Was Hal ever mentioned by name at all? It could just as well have been Kyle, who does exist in the JLU-verse, after all.

It's pretty obvious that the script was obviously written to fit in JLU continuity (it shows the new watchtower and its teleport technology being built, explains the appearance of Wondy's plane, and even basically ends with the establishment of the new League in "Initiation"), though, so despite the different voice actors and character designs, I prefer to think of it as a part of DCAU canon.

It's a rewrite of the "Worlds Collide" JLU lead-in movie, so it has elements that were meant to lead in to that series, though it's not part of that canon (hence, Hal being there instead of John).

I know. I just think those elements are strong enough that it still works as a part of that canon.
