Midway's financial woes are what killed Mortal Kombat vs. DCU. It was actually the most playable Mortal Kombat game ever, with an extremely solid engine.

The storyline was silly, but it reveled in that silliness and turned it into a kind of bizarre strength. If Capcom is sensible enough to do the same thing here, it'll work out.
