Marvel has put out an unlettered preview from Siege #4.

Damnit, Eli, you're screwing up the cool action pose.

Date: 2010-04-24 04:44 am (UTC)I don't know, I just never like it when there is a "new" version of an already existing character. Yeah, I get that they needed someone to be Cap since the regular one was dead/in the past/whatever and I don't have anything against Bucky, but personally whenever I think of Captain America, I think of Steve. So I guess I'm just set in my ways or something. I'm cool with Bucky being Cap, though. For now.
I'm a lot worse about the whole Batman thing that's going on now, though. People are wondering if when Bruce comes back if Dick will still be Batman and I'm all like, "NO, he won't be Batman. BRUCE is Batman and will always be Batman and he's not even going to ever need a replacement again, thanks anyways Dick, because he CANNOT DIE and he will never retire or get old EVER, so Terry whatshisname can just get on out of here, and dangit Damian, stop eyeballing the cowl because you are never going to get to wear it because your dad is never ever ever ever ever going to die/retire, I don't care what Morrison says, okay?"
....no, I am not obsessive about Batman, why would you even think that?
On a more sane note, just wanted to say that your icon always makes me smile. :D

Date: 2010-04-24 04:56 am (UTC)But I'm actually glad they didn't put him right back in the suit. I like Bucky as Cap and I'm glad Marvel is sticking with him for now. I know Steve'll eventually go back, but it's the one time that I wouldn't mind if they stuck with what they have now. It's a nice little evolution and development of BOTH characters that feels natural in its progress.
Ditto goes for Batman. I'll betcha anything that by the end of Morrison's run, Bruce will be Batman and Damian will likely be killed off or shuffled off into obscurity. Or until Adam Beechan writes a Damian mini-series and screws the character up royally. *grin!*

Date: 2010-04-24 05:30 am (UTC)I'm also pretty sure that Bruce will be back as Bats right away, too. Mainly because a lot of the books with Dick being Bats have made him look completely inept at it, which frankly makes me pretty angry since it seems like they just had Dick put on the cowl so they could be like, "Whoa, look at how much better Bruce was at it!" And Damian is a little brat, but he only REALLY annoys the heck out of me when Morrison writes him being all super awesome and better than everyone at all times. But there is no way I would EVER want to see him wearing the cowl. lol

Date: 2010-04-24 02:08 pm (UTC)No that is the worst thing about them. The constant obsession with the past. That's what brings about retcons and continuity snarls because the creators are unhappy with what others created because it is not the same as when they were kids. The whole thing creates an industry that is essentially afraid to move forward.
Was there any reason to bring back Barry or Hal? No there wasn't except some creators wanted to relive the past. Was there any reason for half the stuff Grant Morrison brought back to Batman? No except he wanted the really crazy shit to have happened on some level. What about One More Day, why should Spider-Man be unmarried? Because a creator is unhappy with their marriage.
I was proud of Marvel for sticking to their guns with a big change of the status quo since Civil War and a rather unpopular one at that but now with the Siege they are moving backwards towards the old status quo pre-registration act.

Date: 2010-04-25 05:27 am (UTC)Wow, you give them so much more credit than I do. Half the changes of Civil War were either retconned almost instantaneously (Spider-Man unmasking, anyone?) or simply shuffled away, because if you string the cliche along into 20 issues instead of five, it's totally not the same cliche cop-out way of recovering status quo.
... or, short version, I agree with you.
