Now I'm not exactly a physicist, but I don't think time works that way. If they were in this Macroverse two years ago, and since then a lifetime has past, wouldn't that mean time moves faster in the Macroverse? So they really shouldn't be concerned about missing anything. If anything they should worry about getting stuck there and dying of old age before Valeria the super genius can come get them.

Of course I failed high school physics, so hopefully someone can explain to me how this works.

You're right, it should be a one sided thing. The time dilation would only be on the microverse side. So the FF and Spidey could be there for months and maybe only a few hours or maybe days would have passed in reality.

You don't even need High School Physics to know that - just Narnia books.

Or Zot!
Second time this month a smaller world has run at a different time frame to create false jeopardy, but at least Superman/Batman is consistent!

This has been the source of a major fuss over at Newsarama, everyone's kicking off over it, and perhaps rightfully so.

If a group of fans can spot the error in the writing in a matter of seconds, then what the fuck are the editors doing? Are they still wanking over 'how good' they've made the Spidey book that they don't bother to read this shit anymore?

ALSO - Is it just me, or am I the only one who has issues with the really, really lazy storytelling that Slott uses in pushing the days forward? Rather than actually show any proper development, we just get a set of panels saying 'X is going out with Y, X is now dating Y, X now loves Y' and something along those lines, rather than any real pagetime for this supposedly great supporting cast we've been given.

The first time I'd ever heard Greg Rucka's name was an interview he did for Wizard in anticipation of his Wolverine series. The question of relationships came up, and Rucka mentioned how one of Batman's most classic relationships, Silver St. Clare's only took a few panels to progress to a declaration of love. He basically said comics storytelling has evolved since then and we have to progress along with it.

I started liking this Greg Rucka guy right then. Huntress: Cry For Blood, a great example of him putting that idea into practice (with one of the principals being the best portrayal of Vic Sage since DC bought him), has since become one of my favorite mini-series.

I suppose it depends on the caliber of the storytelling, then. Combined with the lazy excuse for the passage of time, I just think this particular story isn't gelling with me, for whatever reason. It just seems lazy, and I think, maybe, that I expect better of Slott.

I still wonder if Slott (among other writers) is quietly monkeywrenching the whole Spidey storyline since I suspect the only way to change Joey the Q's mind is to flush the title's sales.

I don't get why time moves any different at all, they're just smaller.

IIRC They established a while ago that the Microverse is named because of the fact that you need to shrink to get there, not just because it's a smaller dimension in itself.

It's the act of shrinking from the Macroscale that triggers the transportation there, as when you reach a certain size you are transported extradimensionally to the Microverse's dimension.

That's why no matter where you are when you shrink, you'll end up in the Microverse.

So it's not a smaller area of our universe, but a whole 'nother universe with a different time frame that can only be reached (for some reason) by shrinking?

If it's the established Microverse (and Marvel has several, the Micronauts, the one Jarella is from, this one) then yes, it's another universe. Though the fact that half the worlds look like long chain molecules, and population is tiny relative to humans in the Macroverse (So "big" Bug in the Guardians is a bit of a mystery) etc helped with the "it's smaller, but huge to them" notion.

Shrinking is the standard way of getting there, but there are others, the Prometheus Pit was one and Genis-Vell and Rick Jones spent some time swapping places there via Nega-band.

Glad to hear that. As a kid, I wondered how the Atom could follow someone down into a microsopic universe when he started shrinking from a few feet away.

Well, it might be similar to the effect of a quantum singularity and it's time dilation effect that occurs as you near the accretion disc of a black hole.

Attempt at a no-prize

The time dilation is actually caused by the unique mix of cosmic radiation and radioactivity created by the mutated cells of the Fantastic Four and Spider-Man.

The heroes slow down time on the world they inhabit. They are responsible for the sliding time-scale on their homeworld, too.

If they haven't already, Marvel will be ruining their own "events" without any help from any of us. They've done such a great job of it so far.

Atmosphere or physics or idk SCIENCE of the universe they're in. Peter speculates, but no solid answer is given.

Ahh okay. I was thinking that maybe it was just a general upgrade, since I haven't followed 616 that closely lately (outside of the Runaways); like, maybe he got powerful enough that his usual level of heat is just blue fire all the time.

Maybe Azula killed him and took his place when they entered this dimension, and no one can tell 'cause it's still a person who's on fire!

Different atmosphere

Colour of flame depends on the temperature, and fuel (which of course, affects temperature), even the shape will change in different gravity. I think blue means there is less oxygen, so that could explain why Johnny tends to be unhappier in alien environment.

Was the editor asleep? It's the little things that ruins the story.

Although what they could have done, was that transuniverse trasfer could only happen diagonally, they can't cross into the other universe directly, they have to cross into the other universe's future or past or something. If different universes are formed by different timelines, this make sense...although this universe ain't a divergent timeline eh?
