Wolverine is tired of you eating his eggs

Faith Erin Hicks, who was on art duties for Zombies Calling, has got a story in the upcoming issue of Girl Comics. But, apparently, before that story was approved, she drew an 11 page story about the day-to-day trials and tribulations of shared living in the X-men mansion. Which Marvel rejected. Presumably because it's cute, funny, no-one dies and the only angst in it is from Wolverine complaining that someone ate his special Canadian eggs.

Well, yes, but Kurt IS covered in short fur - that's why he's blue; it's the fur, not his skin. Hence the 'fuzzy elf' monicker.

I hear ya, Wolvie buddy. These little things matter. It's like tapwater - people can talk about how it all comes from the same place and it makes no difference which tap it comes out of, but I say - and there are those who agree with me - that bathroom tapwater tastes MUCH better than kitchen tapwater. End of story.

So glad you guys enjoyed my little comic so much! (It's Faith.) The comments here totally warmed my heart. This is pretty much the kind of X-Men comic I'd love to read, and I'm glad to know I'm not alone in this!

Just FYI: Marvel never officially rejected this, they just never got back to me about it (I pitched it about a year ago). No idea what the pitch was for. It could've been just a test piece, to see how I'd handle their characters... I've really no idea. But like I said on my blog, based on this pitch I was asked to do a contribution to the Girl Comics anthology (Girl Comics #2 came out yesterday with a story by me! Go buy it!), so it all worked out in the end. Although I would've really liked to have finished up this story and given it nice final artwork... o well.

Well, either way, it means we get to read this story and the one in Girl Comics. Which doesn't seem bad to me. I'm just itching to get down to my LCS to pick up my copy.
