Some of you may remember the time I posted that one story where Bruce is depicted as a completely realistic corporate CEO. Well, more realistic than almost any other take, anyways. Good times, good times.

Many of you rightfully called out that portrayal as terrible, and that pondering the "realistic" foundations of Wayne Enterprises misses the whole point of Batman very, very badly. This recent article from Chris Sims on that very topic got me thinking: what would be the total, polar opposite of Batman: Tenses? What story would have Bruce's boundless charity and philanthropy play a central role, not just be relegated to a plot convenience or a fuzzy-wuzzy epilogue?

Ladies and germs, I believe I've found the answer. And the answer may shock you to your very core!

"We live in an era where Bree Newsome gets jailed for taking down a flag that stands as nothing but a symbol of deep hate. We live in an era where cops kill unarmed black men and women with impunity. We are in an era where we live with the evil done in our names, and in the names of the countries in our passports. I want us to look into a mirror and face ourselves. I want us to say stop to that, and I want us to act accordingly."

From the oddest of Elseworlds, WHOM GODS DESTROY, Part Three, "The Gift"-- the 1997 Superman-Wonder Woman four part story by Chris Claremont and Dusty Abell....which oddly enough, is mainly a Lois Lane story. 16 pages out of 48.

So, when last we ended, Athena---the goddess of wisdom---died, and gave her abilities to an elderly Lois Lane, turning her into a young Wonder Woman.

Lois, understandably, is pretty confused...

'So I was thinking, a different version of the Justice League, what do you do that’s different? And around that same time, DC Comics was doing the New 52 reboot and when I first heard about that I thought, wow, that’s really intriguing, I wonder what they’re going to do with the characters. That made me start to think about the silver age versions of The Flash and Green Lantern, and how when they brought them back they kept the name and the gimmick of the golden age versions of those characters and threw everything else out. They had new costumes, their powers worked differently, they had new alter egos, and I thought that was the most successful reboots in the history of comics and I thought wouldn’t it be exciting if they did that with the entire line of DC Comics. I knew they weren’t going to do that because you can’t, that’s just too huge a financial gamble. It made me start thinking though, if I was going to “reimagine Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman,” the three biggest, most important characters in the DC Universe, what would they be?' - Bruce Timm
