you know what? like this. it's the kind of move Sinestro would pull if pushed, and New Genesis at this point have proven to be though enough for him to do it.

If Green Lantern Power Rings literally do not do anything, why would Qwardian-based Power Rings have any effect? Or any other Power Ring for that matter? It's still just compacted light, or are we ignoring that for right now?

So who is the antagonist here? New God? Violet Lantern? Both?

And given how unpleasant the last bunch of "New Genesis" folks to show up were, how are we supposed to find them anything of an improvement on Apokalips, which is at least honest about being evil SOB's.

Are the only tolerable ones left going to be Scott, Barda and probably Lightray?

The New God. This is sort of a followup to the Green Lantern Corps issue where the Indigo Tribe leader showed up and rescued the Green Lanterns, bringing them back to their planet. However, the New Gods tracked them down and... here we are.

I'm not sure about Lightray. He also took part in the stealing of the rings. In the first part of Godhead, he's the guy who stole the ring from the Star Sapphires I didn't show (though at least he didn't kill anyone and wasn't that much of a jerk about it).

Sinestro, you magnificent bastard. See this is Sinestro to a tee, highly intelligent, cunning, charismatic, utterly ruthless, and pragmatic when the situation calls for it.

Oh and Bekka's role in this gets interesting from now on.

Totally agree about Sinestro's move. Getting rid of the dead weight in his own Corps is EXACTLY the sort of sneaky thing Sinestro would do.
