Rufftoon is awesome. I've been sharing the comics mocking movie!Firebending with everyone I know who's seen the series. "C'mon, men! Let's go punch some fish!" (even though they changed that, it's still funny)

Also, the "Tea! <3" panel is my favorite.

Yeah, I haven't seen much Avatar, and "Look Uncle, KITTENS!" had me giggling!

Make the effort, start from the beginning. The series is that good, and I was a strong naysayer before I became apostlized by the cartoon.

I was really resistant to Avatar for a long time because of the wacky fandom, but I am a convert.

I too echo the above comments. I'm always resistant to get into anything with a rabid, loud, jumping, obnoxious fanbase, but I did, and damn it, NOW I AM ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE.

Maybe that's not a good sales pitch. My point is, it gets hyped for a reason, and it saddens me that more people would be hesitant to watch it because it's a kid's show. I think it's best to view it as one of those absurdly great YA epics that even adults can read and love.

hefner honey, if you think I'm going to be put off watching something because it's ostensibly a kids show, you really don't know me at all! ;-D You're talking to somone with, amongst other things on his DVD racks, Pinky and the Brain, BTAS, Gargoyles, Henson's Dinosaurs, Beast Wars, Jem and many weirder than that.

Whew! Well heck, I tell ya, even old-time comic fans have been weirdly hesitant about this one. Yes, I dare say this could fit in nicely with GARGOYLES in terms of being a grand sweeping epic with awesome and layered characters, but with more of a (subdued) TEEN TITANS style animation and humor.

I'd say the old-time comic fans' hesitation to watch ATLA has less to do with the fact that it's a "kid's show" and more to do with the fact that it's heavily anime-influenced. A lot of old-time comic fans seem to despise manga and anime and anything that vaguely looks like that.

Oh, I've seen some and , I picked up the first couple of DVD's and plan on getting the season sets when I see them at a reasonable price and when I've worked through the outstanding pile of DVD's I have accumulated. :)

Just a tip from a fan: Avatar makes excellent use of continuity (character development, foreshadowing, etc), so make sure to watch the episodes in order.

New show?

For those who don't know: Bryke recently got the rights for the title "Avatar: The Legend of Korra." Not much else is known at this time.

It will not be a full season, but a miniseries, with events after the conclusion of the war and 100 years later. Is all I know.
