I hope so.

I want to know if Toph made up with her parents.

You mean if Toph's parents made up with her?

Given that they're the ones who tried to lock her up against her wishes and then sent a known kidnapper and a "teacher" who somehow missed the fact that his student was an Earthbending genius to "bring her back for her own good", I'm not sure how Toph should be the one holding out an olive branch...

Maybe it'll be answered in the next show, which is apparently going to be called Avatar: the Legend of Korra.

I'm going to assume that it stars a female lead until told otherwise. *nods*

-Will Koh use the near-death Jet as the new Blue Spirit?

...what? What the Hell are you talking about? Where did that come from? Some of these I agree with, some I couldn't care less about, and some... I mean, Koh and Jet? WTF?

They are meant to be rounding up people to make some kind of animated series based in the Avatar universe, but considering how poorly the live action movie is doing (almost universial bad reviews, and 6% on Rotten Tomatoes) I think that that might get cancelled.

It pains me that the average person will never know how awesome the ATLA cartoon is, and will associate the name "Last Airbender" with that crappy movie ;_;

Just found out that the creators of the show have already copywritten the name of their next project: Avatar - the Legend of Korra.

So there still may be hope yet.

I feel conflicted: should I be overjoyed that they are thinking of making a new Avatar series (and is Korra a female name?), or annoyed that they aren't going to make a fourth series with the character I've grown to love (I was so hoping for a "and now Zuko has to travel around the world and convince the people of the Earth Kingdom and Water Tribe that he is a friendly non-genocidal Fire Lord" Season)?

I think I'm going to be reasonably happy and cautiously optimistic.

Hmm, considering how long people tend to live in the Avatarverse, numerous people are show to be up and about well into their 100s for example, if it is a sequel series I'd imagine that an older version of Zuko or Aang or someone would show up.

Or at least some kind of reference. Like the Toph Mountainrange for example, which could have been made when she got bored and decided to mess with cartographers.

IGN recently posted their top ten favorite episodes:

And I was curious; what's everyone else's favorites? Do you agree with this list, or do you wonder what they were smoking? What's your thoughts?

Let's see, Zuko Alone, The Chase (not very much character development but it's just a very fun episode), The Siege of the North, Crossroads of Detiny Part 2...

How could they not include The Ember Island Players? It's the best recap episode in any series ever! It's hilarious, thought-provoking (we know that the Gaang are the good guys, but the Fire Nation people have been tricked into believing them terrorists), with one hell of a final twist, and brilliaintly meta.

While many fans consider the series finale one of the weaker episodes of Avatar

Wut? Seriously? I thought most Avatar fans agreed that the finale was a masterpiece O_o

All loose ends were completely tied, and that's more than most shows can say.

No, they weren't. Where is Zuko's mum? Did Toph and her parents make up? Whatever happened to the two guys Toph's parents hired to capture her, did they just give up after being beaten once (even if apparently they were stubborn enough to cross a whole continent to get to her)? And whatever happened to those poor women who were brainwashed to become Joo Dees? Didn't Koh The Face Stealer say that he and Aang would meet again? What about the Waterbender Avatar who was hunting down Koh to save her kidnapped wife? And after one hundred years of war and one successful genocide and another attempted genocide, how would the rest of the world react to the Fire Nation suddenly out of the blue going all "LOL GUYS IT'S OK WE ARE GOOD NOW! LET'S BE BFF!"?

I loved the ending, but seriously, there is plenty of loose ends for a fourth series.

The finale as a whole was a masterpiece. The single episodes were meant to be seen together, and as a result don't stand up as well when viewed separately.

Also; Zuko's mom and Toph's parents I'll give you, but were you really so desperate to find out about the Joo Dee's? And the previous Avatar who appeared exactly once in the show? A lot of these plot threads were dropped because they were totally inconsequential to the plot, not to mention no where near enough to hang a whole 'nother story line on (although a "what happens next" story would probably be good for at least another season).

but were you really so desperate to find out about the Joo Dee's?

Yes, I was. The Joo Dees are basically the Avatar version of the Stepford Wives. I find what was done to them to be Nightmare Fuel, I felt very very sorry for them, so I'd like to know if they were rescued or not.

And the previous Avatar who appeared exactly once in the show?

Yes again. Koh only appeared once too, but he was so damn creepy that he made one hell of an impact. The story of the Avatar who has been hunting this extremely creepy monster for hundred of years in the Afterlife in a desperate attempt to free his wife's soul really struck me, and I'd love to know how it ends.

And I suppose those could be made into good stories, and maybe someone will write those stories someday. But they were, as they say, "stories for another day." The story was about Aang and Zuko, not the Joo Dees or Koh or the two guys chasing Toph, and it was their story that came to an end. We'd need a whole 'nother episode to deal with the conclusions of all the characters in the show.

I'm also a big fan of The Headband. Though the school came off a little more like an excess of earth (focus on static social control and suppressing individual expression) as opposed to fire (focus on individual drive and power from passion (read: anger) to detriment of well-being and balance) to me, I thought it was very well done.

And "Flameyo, hotman!" always amuses me.

Tales of Ba Sing Se, The Beach, Crossroads of Destiny, The Boiling Rock Part 2, and Tale of Two Lovers.

Mainly episodes with heavy doses of Toph and Azula, I'm biased against Season one. I agree with IGN's choices except for The Storm as number one.

Let me guess; you're biased because Season 1 didn't have Toph or Azula in it?

Although if you're a Toph fan, I'm surprised you didn't include "The Blind Bandit" in your list.

The Blind Bandit was an all right episode, just not one of my favourites.

I'm partially biased because of the characters, but it also felt like Avatar really started picking up steam in season two. The character development that took place during that season was more solid than season one. It could just be that I finally managed to sit down and properly watch the show during season two. I always missed season one on TV.

lol, I remember tons of people being so confused about the random Mai/Zuko in the series (my friend included), but it's because they never saw these scans. I keep forgetting where these come from...so all I could do was describe what happened, but some didn't believe me. lol

Most of the reviews I've seen, including Ebert, say that people should just watch the tv show instead, as the dialogue in the movie is meant to be entirely faux-medieval expo-speak and that the actors playing Aang, Katara and Sokka are awful.

Ebert even asked why they didn't just make it an animated movie as the original voice actors were good and the medium is better for protraying the fantastical things that appeared in the movie without having to justify it constantly.

The fact that they have to explain what the heck is going on with every line of dialogue (or just resorting to voice overs to explain the gaps inbetween the scene, ie they go from arriving at the Northern Water Tribes' city in the one scene to Sokka and Yue being in the midst of a heavy romance in the next).

Oh, pick up the Zuko's Story graphic novel while you're at it. Don't let the fact that it's a movie tie-in scare you; it's really good. The story is great, the art is beautiful, and it can easily fit in with the TV show's continuity.
