The scan was from the first story of the whole series. It's also the first episode of its anime adaptation.
The ghost is Renzu, grandma of Shinra, the boy next to him. When Renzu was young, Renzu was told by the Mushi in the forest that her grandson would have power of making whatever he draw become reality. They wanted to grant Renzu power of the Light Wine to protect Shinra from being used by evil, but the ritual was disturbed and part of Renzu became ghost like Mushi and was left behind in the forest by her human half without knowing. Both of them guarded Shinra until he grew up and kept his power a secret. After human!Renzu died, Shinra met Mushishi Ginko. Ginko found Mushi!Renzu and helped found half the cup used in the ritual. He let Shinra draw the other half. When the cup became whole, it was soon full of Light Wine and the Light Wine brought Mushi!Renzu back to real life as you saw in the scan. :)
