Sure. I hadn't really appreciated that until reading more about the group (in like the last half hour - which I should've done before wading in to Opine About Things; I apologise). The general-media coverage seems to have glossed over it in their haste to report "THE JLA MEET SOME MUSLIMS OMG!"
I picked up the book and wasn't blown away by it, mainly because it did seem so much like "Here's another miscellaneous team up!" I felt as though a little more attention to what (from the readers' perspective) new and interesting about the 99 might have relieved that a bit. But, y'know, it's the first issue of a teamup featuring a cast of thousands; there's still time for all of this.
Founded by girl geeks and members of the slash fandom, scans_daily strives to provide an atmosphere which is LGBTQ-friendly, anti-racist, anti-ableist, woman-friendly and otherwise discrimination and harassment free.
Bottom line: If slash, feminism or anti-oppressive practice makes you react negatively, scans_daily is probably not for you.
