I think what you meant to say there was 'how much do FANS hate Wonder Woman?', given that it was the commercial failure of her DVD that resulted in no sequel.
Public Enemies (which I was very disappointed in) sold 520,000 copies. Wonder Woman sold about 105,000. Superman Doomsday sold 600,000 copies. First Flight sold 360,000 copies. New Frontier sold 300,000 copies. Apocalypse sold about 330,000.
Don't blame DC for not making a sequel of a well-reviewed but poor selling video. Blame fans for NOT BUYING IT.
Am I allowed to say I'm looking forward to this? I happen to like the Corps. And yeah, I like the Corps better than Wonder Woman. It has nothing to do with her being female; she's a character who's just never interested me that much. I bought the Wonder Woman movie and I watched it, and then I resold it because I wasn't really into it. I did the same thing with Superman/Batman Apocalypse because even Kevin Conroy couldn't save it from sucking, and I resold New Frontier because the comic was a thousand times better.
Barbara Gordon, Helena Bertinelli, Cass Cain, Steph Brown and Karen Starr are more my style than Diana. And if DC ever makes a Birds of Prey animated movie, I will be *so* there. And my god, if they'd do a Batgirl movie with Steph or Cass? My brain would short out from the awesome. But they won't. At least Wonder Woman fans got something. I'm never going to get *my* dream girl animation.
I think it's jarodrussell commenting on GL getting a sequel, and Wonder Woman not... Sales aside, the fact that GL has a major motion picture this summer raising the characters profile probably helped.
Computer. It was that annoying one that pretended to be a anti virus program that kept interrupting everything by telling me my computer was infected by Hitler's ghost or something and then it shut down my access to the internet.
Exactly. Also, things change. Especially in Hollywood. Who knows..maybe the David Kelly WW will actually be amazing and they may give another go to an animated.
But how could anyone not be happy with Nathan Fillion being Hal Jordan?
Out of curiosity, how well was the WW movie marketed? I don't watch TV or buy floppies (at the moment), so I don't see a lot of what's out there, commercial-wise.
I just question the logic behind, "Well, the animated Green Lantern movie made almost million less than Wonder Woman, so we should totally make a live action Green Lantern film."
Do you seriously think that the success of a DTV would have ANY impact on a decision whether or not to make a Ryan Reynolds headlining summer blockbuster sci-fi space opera movie?
Honestly, yeah. I'm probably wrong, but having gotten my Bachelor's of Business Administration, I'd like to think the animated movie revenues are part of some accounting spreadhseet that helps the DCU media managers, like Geoff Johns...oh. Nevermind.
I've got a BA in Business too, and I just can't see that a direct to DVD title whose entire revenue was less than $6,000,000, would influence a decision regarding a different medium, a summer movie with a hot Hollywood star (whether he deserves to be hot is another matter), a budget of $150 million plus massive advertising all over the place, and licensing spin off merchandise up the wazoo.
I'm also looking forward to this--I like Wonder Woman, but I can see why "movie tie-in involving massive space battles" might sell a little bit more than "super-amazon in swimsuit fights minotaurs."
