You gotta watch the show and hear the kind of things Karl says. That's why they (well Ricky mostly) laughs almost every second.

Ricky is a flipping hyena.

He cracks up at pretty much everything out of Karl's mouth. Even when it's not funny. (Although Karl does say silly things a lot.)

Because Ricky Gervais is just kind of a dick. The "joke" is that they think Karl is exceptionally stupid.

I always feel bad for Karl. Here, and on "An Idiot Abroad," they just mess with him all the time. I don't know, I guess I don't get the humor when I'm usually agreeing with Karl.

It's mostly Ricky that bothers me...Stephen messes with him a bit, but he doesn't do so gleefully and with malice aforethought like Ricky does.

While I agree that Karl is a bit slow off the mark here, I can't say I enjoy watching him being mocked. 'HA HA HA, you stupid person, you're thinking too much!' Doesn't do it for me.

You've got a point. Thinking on it, it's usually Ricky calling him on A Idiot Abroad with something like, "Hey, we had this great idea! We're going to stage a kidnapping by terrorists, only it's all fake! Ha ha!" Might have been nice if he got that voice mail before they kidnapped him and scared the shit out of him.

I do like that show, because I like getting the everyman view of these places. It's different than a travel show because it's a simpler viewpoint. And Karl in his own way has an interesting insight into some of these places.
