I actually truly work in my Government's Disabilities department, and we do have a list of words we're told to avoid using when talking to clients (including, ironically enough considering our Department's name, the word disabled), and lame's not one of the words listed (then again, we don't really use 'lame' as an expression over here). Something the mods need to remember is that a word that's insulting in their neck of the woods might not even raise an eyebrow in the poster's neck of the woods. So, if it's a modably offensive word it really should be listed somewhere in the rules.
