Juno Temple (yeah, I don't know who she is either) Cast in Dark Knight Rises!

Anyways, this actress has been cast in the new Batman movie, and like with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, people aren't utterly sure who the heck she'll be playing.



So far it has been suggested that she'll be playing Carrie Kelley, aka Robin in the Dark Knight Returns comic (unlikely considering Bale and Nolan's insistance that Robin in any form won't be showing up), Stephanie Brown, aka the Spoiler aka Robin aka Batgirl (even more unlikely, unless as a background character) and Holly Robinson, aka Selina Kyle sidekick and former Catwoman.

Personally I'm leaning more towards Temple playing Holly, that is IF she's got a main-ish role and isn't just an annoying side-character like Jim Gordon Junior from the Dark Knight. One of the previous complaints about the Nolanverse Batman films is the lack of female characters, beyond Shrieking Harpy (Rachel Dawes), and I'm hoping that with the addition of Anne Hathaway's Catwoman (and she WILL be Catwoman, they've fitted her for the costume and everything), Juno as MaybeHolly and the possible addition of Talia al Ghul (allegedly played by Inception's Marion Cotillard) to the mix, it readdresses the balance somewhat.

Stephanie Brown's presence would definitely turn the Nolan verse from total mess to some kind of an aster for me.

And he did have a chance, but only because Selina was having a emotional breakdown and was sleeping with him as a form for crutch, which caused him to dump her when he worked it out, as he reasoned that it wasn't healthy for either of them.

Meh. Ever since they casted Anne Hathaway as Selina I'm no longer excited by this movie. The presence of Joseph Gordon-Levitt doesn't even excite me anymore.

The girl looks like your generic Hollywood teen. What's so special about her casting, anyway?

I can't get past the idea of Anne Hathaway attempting to play Selina, so I hold out no hopes for the film. Juno Temple is, however, one of the coolest names ever,

I actually didn't find her so bad for what she did, but once Batman Begins was successful enough to merit a sequel, it seemed like the possibility of her being that canon's version of Two-Face (tell me that wasn't an obvious setup given her role in Begins) and she herself was removed from the board quickly as to give Bruce a cheap source of grief and to have Harvey break down.

I don't think Nolan's Batfilms have a problem with a lack of female characters, more the treatment of the main one. TDK, for all it's other problems, just became one big ol' sausagefest in the third act, and Rachel's death was nothing more than fuel for Harvey's hilariously narmy flashback sequence/hospital scene and the idiotic finale.

I wouldn't call Rachel a 'shrieking harpy' either, but it felt pretty obvious she was just there to fit the obligatory and dispensable role of superhero/action movie love interest, which was the case for all the love interests in the Burton/Schumaker movies (save for "Returns", arguably). Even when I watched "Begins" for the first time I could easily imagine the exact same story playing out without her in it.

This is the first time I've heard anyone speculate that she'd turn into Nolan's version of Two-Face though, but that would have been a way interesting twist on the mythology- and for me, preferable over the abridged Harvey Dent saga we ended up with.

I will always be bitter they weren't creative enough and ballsy enough to make her Two-Face. I love TDK, but it would have drawn things together so much more tightly to not have to introduce an extra character and pointlessly kill her off IMO. You're right- it's not her, it's what they did with her.

I have actually seen three movies with Juno Temple (she's a British actress). She was in "St. Trinian's" 1 and 2, the first of which I found out about from s_d. Those two are just fun movies that didn't really stretch any of the actresses, but I just watched "Cracks" last night and she was scary and good as well as three-dimensional.

I don't get it either. She's partly a fairly standard damsel in distress for part of Begins, then competent toward the end, and really competent save for the people she trusts in TDK.

I just blame Nolan for being really, really bad at writing roles for women. Mal, in Inception, barely fares better, what with the implications of what Cobb did to her.

They're from Brubaker's Catwoman run. I don't know the specific issues, but they're in the 'Wild Ride' trade, as far as I know. Either that or.. Well, you just need to hunt down the trades with Ed Brubaker and Cameron Stewart's names on.

hm, wonder why it didn't occur to me that she could be Holly. The first I heard of her, it was suggested she would play some young female character from Long Halloween, but I don't know who....

The only thing announced is she's playing "a street-smart Gotham girl." That doesn't mean anyone from the comics. But, if it does, it suggests either Steph or Holly, both of whom would fit in the Nolanverse.

Holly would provide Selena a sidekick, while Steph would represent Batman making a genuinely positive difference (I do expect Nolan to end his trilogy on a positive note), in this case inspiring someone to take up the cause with whatever they can throw together from the local Radio Shack.

The Spoiler costume...



...would fit the Nolanverse more than the bright red, green, and yellow of the Robin costume.

I'd guess Holly is more likely, though, considering how much Nolan draws from Frank Miller.
