Been looking around for this on the past posts, and I don't see it, so I will post it to talk about.
CraveOnline has the info on the major summer event for 2011 for Marvel's merry mutants.

The previously announced X-Men Prelude miniseries written by Paul Jenkins will be renamed X-Men: Prelude to Schism and kick off the event in May, with four issues drawn by different artists that each follow one of the four most influential members of the team, Professor X, Cyclops, Wolverine and Magneto. Robert De La Torre will draw the first issue, with Laurence Campbell coming on for the second issue.

Looks like we will be getting 2 teams again, with different leaders, and Xavier and Magneto on opposite sides again.

It could be any of the main four leaders of the splinter groups talking about the other: Cyclops, Wolverine, Magneto, Xavier.

Since Xavier and Magneto are going to be on the team in Legacy, I guess that means that the two sides will be those who follow Cyclops, and those who follow Wolverine.

Is there a Storm option?

That would be interesting but Ororo was born with a double whammy that makes her opinion irrelevant in the male dominated ranks of the X Men. Or at at least when it comes to important topics.

I'm going to copy what I've posted on another forum:

I hope Marvel has the sense to do what it does best and mimic real life. What's been going on for a while is that the young people refuse to be drawn into the ideological conflicts of their elders. The upheaval in the Middle East is only the far end of it, but in places where there is less repression it's been happening for a while.

Here's a small example, let's look at the little town (pop. 3000) I live in. It's in the American South, and for years the political spectrum was dominated by Black vs. White. A few years ago a young Black man ran for mayor against an older White man. The older White man's friends persuaded an older Black man to enter the mayoral race. They expected the two Black candidates would split the Black vote and all the Whites would vote for the White candidate, resulting in a landslide. What resulted was a landslide win for the young Black candidate. All the young people, Black and White voted for the young candidate while the two older candidates split the old vote between them along racial lines. The older generation was left scratching their heads over why we weren't willing to play their old games.

It's been happening around the world, including in Obama's election, but that mayoral race was small enough for that aspect to stand out apart from the other issues. That's what I'd like to see happen with the X-Men.

Everything I've read about Legacy's new direction says that Rogue's taking her team off of Utopia. And they're going to space.

Perhaps the fact that you're not old enough to be going senile is the reason you missed it - the issue in question is 25 years old. I'm sure it's been posted in Scans Daily somewhere, but either it was the old site or it wasn't tagged with Firelord so I couldn't find it. A quarter-century ago there was a comic where Firelord came to Earth, and some construction workers (or something like that) mistook him for a mutant and (idiotically) attacked him with a blast of water from a hose. Spidey comes along in time to save the humans, but Firelord takes it all as an affront to his honour, which leads to an entire comic-and-a-half of Spidey running away from the vastly more powerful former-herald-of-Galactus. Eventually after over a full issue of trying to run away from (or trying to knock out) Firelord Spidey gets cornered, gets desperate and does this:

And I'm not sure but I think they've said that Havok and Polaris would come back in that book too. I assume that means Rachel will be included.

They've said Havok and Lorna will be back, and there's going to be a Magneto/Polaris reunion. No word yet on Rachel, Crystal, or Luna.

It's kind of funny, because I originally wanted to comment on how the scenario you described above was exactly the point of Planet X (Literally. Xavier even says so himself in the conclusion.) but didn't, due to the risk of yet another pointless Magneto & The Nazis Debate.

You didn't like it. That's your prerogative, but that doesn't change that this is what the entire run was about and the same scenario makes less sense now then it ever did.

Unfortunately that wasn't what Morrison delivered. He got sidetracked, as he has an unfortunate habit of doing when he gets to the end of any contract run for the Big Two.

Hopefully this time the writers will stay on point.

There is intent, and there is execution. In that case the good intent was obscured by the poor execution. Stating the intent baldly only throws a spotlight on how bad the execution was. It happens all the time in art, and is responsible for more bad tv shows than I can count.

From the way it's being hinted in that marketing piece, it's not going to be between those two, but between Cyclops and Wolverine.

The way I've read it is that Wolverine will be siding with Magneto in a stance against the other two, with Magneto being the Mastermind of sorts and Wolverine being the Leader.

Either way, that makes even less sense. Wolverine is clearly not qualified to lead anything more sophisticated than a snackbar and is not exactly equipped to be any sort of moral compass for the X-Men either.
He's the best at what he does, but what he does is going snikt snikt on whatever guy the rest of the X-Men are pointing at at any given moment, so someone should realize that siding with the amnesiac killing machine and the supervillain that flip-flops more than Two-Face's favourite coin is a monumentally stupid idea.

Not Magneto and Xavier. Those two are actually on the same team at the moment, working with some other X Men towards some end I cant quite remember. I think theyre going into space.

No, this seems to be building towards the now-asshole Cyclops and morally off the wall Wolverine.

Its still stupid though. Except it does bring up something Id like to see in another reality maybe: If Wolverine did end up leading the X MEn, how would he be forced to change? He cant run around being all kill-kill-maim-kill while the world watches. That makes me curious.

I am surprised that Magneto has been on the side of the angels (or arguably the angels) for quite this long. I thought that after New Mutants soured he'd never really be considered a goodie. I'm digging this, and his turn in Age of X.

Of course, depends on where they go from here. Wolverine has at times had a much more practical view of getting things done, probably stemming from his huge body count, but with almost a fetish for other people being innocent and not making his 'mistakes'. This I can see pairing quite well with Magneto in his more "I do this so others don't have to suffer like I did" moods. God Loves Man Kills was a good snapshot of this. I guess Cyclopse is getting closer and closer to this state of mind (teaser trailer thing about Cyke dressed as Mags) but I can't ever see them palling round enough to be seconds/lieutantants. Could be wrong thou :)

I hope, really really hope, that whichever way this pans out, both sides are presented as having valid points...
