Really? Such potential for character development wasted on keeping one of the murderous and cliched villains whose characterization is, frankly, stagnant. Ugh. My main interest in Harley is the "hate" side of her love/hate relationship with Joker, but of course she can't be anything but his love-interest!
Though at least Selina's not hanging out with Ivy and Harley any more. I never bought that Selina would hang around with Ivy and Harley who, after all, are villains, not anti-heroes as Selina is.

. . . they don't have a love/hate relationship. They have an abusive spouse relationship, it's just that they're both abusive to each other. Yes, Harley is less abusive, but that's kinda because it's THE JOKER.
So the Joker was going around scratching small children with a rusty nail in hope they'd get tetanus and die? That's... possibly the weakest, and most sodding stupid, plot I've ever come across from him.
And after murdering innocents to get in to see the Joker, I'm supposed to find her hugging him, what? Loathesome? Amusing? I genuinely don't know what they're aiming for, but I know I don't give a shit.

Ok, that's just so vile, I not only don't want to read this, but I don't want to read anything involving the Joker, or Harley, or Batman, or Catwoman, or anyone from Gotham city ever again. The Joker isn't just someone who kills babies for laughs, he's someone who does it to push the plot along. No comeuppance, nothing. The Joker killing babies isn't worth a story of its own.
and in fairness, if you're frequently antagonistically interacting with the Joker in a prison environment and he found out you had a kid, he would probably pull the "dress up like a clown" bit.
Because it's so stupid, and it's happening right at the end, I'm going to wait until next month and see if it sticks before declaring it terrible writing.
Honestly, this isn't a book I followed regularly, but when it started, I found it interesting. Around then and before I was thinking that ultimately this series will be all about redemption. Selina was already a face, but Poison Ivy and Harley, especially Harley, I was most interested in. I wanted to see if they can change their ways and just enjoy the journey. I had hopes for Harley after the Clown At Midnight (a favorite Joker story of mine), considering that she finally opened her eyes. I was hoping for a funny, epic redemption story with plenty of hijinks that only Harley can provide. Instead..we get this. Since it says to be continued, I will hold off judgement, but seriously..if it all just ends with this..then this series will have been a fucking waste.
Also Joker scratching kids with a rusty nail..just...no. There's just a..level of cruelty to it that seems too much even for the Joker. It's something that just turns you off from him.
I was gonna say, as much as I think Harley was an afterthought and something to be gotten rid of in The Clown at Midnight - Morrison didn't need her in his Bowie-esque revamp of Joker - it served a purpose of seperating her from the Joker and allowing her to stand on her own. But Countdown was a joke and this hasn't exactly been a shining hour for her at all. It doesn't help that Dini didn't seem keen to push her characterisation anywhere new to begin with.
The Joker seriously needs to go away for a while. Kill him off, put him on hiatus, I don't care. Give him 5 to 10 years away from comics. Then when you bring him back, go back to a guy who could commit crimes other than cold-blooded murder and who, when he did kill, would make it part of a punchline instead of just doing it because he can.
Honestly, I'm quite dumbfounded that DC doesn't seem interested in capturing some of the Joker's animated appearances in their depiction of the character. The Joker from the DCAU or even Batman: The Brave and the Bold captures the character very well. But it looks like DC is insisting on doing a poor imitation of Heath Ledger's depiction instead. (Not to take anything away from Ledger's Joker, which was excellent, but it's just one facet of the character.)
For me, the thing about Ledger's Joker is that it worked- for one film. I enjoyed watching that one film. I really just don't want to read about him for the next decade or so. Whereas if they took a more DCAU-style tack, yeah, I could read about that guy for a while to come.
I'm so tired of Joker and his "untouchable" status that I didn't find him killing a baby too out there. After all, they try to pull something outrages and upsetting every time they use him. There's nowhere to go anymore but this, I suppose.
It's disgusting. They completely ruined the character for me who once was my favorite villain. I can't bear him anywhere (just once in B&R by Morrison in the last 5 years) Just kill him and keep him in the fridge for a time.
As for Harley, well...Not surprised a bit. When the book started, I thought maybe she would be allowed to grow but we all know how the book went.
Just please don't let Selina return. Please. That's all I want. I hate that she's in it. Writing for her character is completely off, it never made sense that she hung out with Ivy and Harley. Write her in her own book or write her into the Bat books. Anything but this.

Which is really my main problem with the character as he is now. The Killing Joke was shocking because it was the Joker going farther than he had gone at that point, doing real damage to the Bat-family in the process. Since then, the stuff he pulled there seems tame by comparison, so the shock value is gone.
The other problem is that I think readers need to like comic book villains - not the horrible things they do, but there needs to be a sort of respect for them or a reason to want to see them return. The Joker now is just Hannibal Lecter without the charm, which makes him more of an annoyance when he pops up.

2. How does the general villian community view Joker? I'm mostly curious about Flash's rogues.
