So in Homestuck, shit has reached an appropriate level of reality. The trolls have broken apart. Four have been killed, one has been blinded and the very hope for the recreation of their species has been destroyed.

Kanaya was the keeper of the seed that would save their species, so when Eridan (being a complete fucking dink like he always is) decides to join the dark side after gaining the power of magic and destroys it, she's understandably pissed and attacks.

See Eridan is... You know that one guy you know? The one who hits on EVERY GIRL he meets? He's desperate but tries to act like "a nice guy"? Which translates to "I'm nice to a girl if I think she'll bang me". Yeah, Eridan is that guy.

Also he has serious murderous urges.



It doesn't end well.



At all.

Finally a showdown occurs. Gamezee (the sunglasses wearing chap for those not in the know, who had just murdered two of his friends in an insane rage, Vriska, who had just murdered another troll and has all around been pretty fucked up to everyone, and Eridan face each other

Kanaya got better.

By drinking the blood of her fellow trolls, the first amount given by a idiotic life restoring kiss by Karkat, she was revived. And she was pissed.





Pretty god damn pissed.

First she takes out the closest target.





Next we deal with the next closest.




Now we get to the personal stuff. First let's deal with his wand shall we?





Oh, also, Kanya uses a chainsaw. Just telling ya.

I think the thing that impressed me most is it actually gave a rationale for all Vriska's shenanigans. I still think she's an egotistical bitch (of the huge (see also: bluh bluh) variety), but at least she's not doing it out of outright sadism.

Her recent conversation with John really does explain everything to me. She's reaised by the worst possible guardian. One that forces her to feed it young trolls or she;ll be eaten. This forces her into a position of being an accomplice to hundreds, if not thousands of murders.

Then she gets a role model in the form of Mindfang. Yet we learn hrough her journals that she's an absolutely fucking AWFUL role model. A horrible person who enslaved a woman for her pleasure.

This leads us to why Vriska has an obsession with control and being the best. It even explains her relationship with Tavros.

Honestly, I kinda hope her and John end up together. Though I really am worried about his reaction to his Dad.

I couldn't begin to guess what'll happen with John and his dad. I don't think he'll fly off the handle like Rose, but be more inclined to go into shock. Which may sufficiently distract Rose from her grimdarkness to try to snap him out of it.

Personally, I'm with Jade here, mostly concerned with the kids going down the wrong roads and being harmed by it. I never felt as close connection to the trolls, but they are definitely more interesting since the Hivebent stuff got done with.

Also keep in mind that he knows that Vriska essentially created Bec Noir. How is he going to react to her after he finds his father? I think it's pretty clear Vriska respects his thoughts and opinions more than anyone else so he may totally cause her to lose any morale compass she may have gained with him.

I can certainly see that, but I wonder if it'll happen that way. John has a way of not noticing or forgetting vital connections between things, and it could well happen again here.

Although as we've seen above, that's the least of her worries. It's about time at least one of the trolls stopped acting like a douche long enough to get shit done.

Kanya is one of the best trolls simply because she's so nice and relaxed. She may well be the nicest character in the comic next to John and Jade.

As a longtime member of scans_daily, I know it's a really cheap trick to kill C-list characters to raise tension, but when we lost Feferi, Kanaya (sort of), Tavros, Equius and Nepeta all in the space of two weeks, it really got my attention.

Every update with the trolls has me on the edge of my seat, even though I hated pretty much all of them (except maybe Terzei, Vriska, and Karkat) during Hivebent.

I'll agree with that. Since they've slowly become influenced by the humans (and note the ones who are most troll-like are the ones with the least interaction), they've become much more alive as characters. Especially Vriska and Karkat, who both are characters that would totally alienate a reader.

Something occurs to me as I type this, I wonder if Hussie is setting up a paradigm shift among the trolls. Remember what Vriska said about how nasty adult trolls are, I wonder if that's not heavily influenced by their culture, rather than the essential nature of the species. I wonder if, with the matriorb destroyed, they might not find another way of resurrecting their race and doing it differently this time. It's certainly not out of line with other things Hussie has done.

Terezai's little bro/romance with Dave is awesome too and proves her to be one of the best trolls.

Also I really can't wait until the kids meet the trolls.
