Jonathan Hickman's Ultimate Hawkeye, following on from Ultimate Thor and acting as a loose companion piece to his Ultimates run.


I'm getting slightly excited for what might be a proper Ultimate Universe. I assume that day 4 will be an announcement involving the new Ultimate Spider-man title.

It seems like Marvel is really putting behind their powerhouses for the new Ultimates relaunch.
I don't know if that will make me read them though. Ultimates makes good writers very, very bad.

And conversely, bad writers pretty good!!! While I don't consider him a bad writer, Ult. Spider Man is IMO Bendis' greatest work. And Millar's runs on Ult. X-Men and Ultimates is highly rated imo.

On the contrary, Ultimate Spider-Man is Bendis' best monthly. I only like Powers and Scarlett more than that book. And besides, many a writer sucks regardless of the universe they work in, such as Millar and Loeb.

Interesting. In the beginning, the Ultimate Universe was just Bendis and Millar, two guys relatively new to the biz, building a cohesive universe together their way. Since then, it has gotten supremely bloated with various creators coming in and trying to leave their own mark, convoluting the universe..

It'd be pretty interesting if Marvel's trying to do a semi-reboot of the universe and stick to the original plan, but this time with Hickman and Spencer. Great choices, too.

Quite. Just keep Loeb away at all costs. Give it to two people, streamline the titles, and keep it short and tight. I think it's the way to go. I haven't read Ultiamtes since volume 2.
