Four scans from Wolverine #10 by Jason Aaron and Renato Guedes.

This arc pits Logan against the Red Right Hand, a vast consortium of people with beefs with Logan, led by an old geezer.  They're the ones who sent him to Hell as a prelude to whatever else they have planned.

This issue is narrated by the geezer, and we get his backstory:

Wolverine defeats the thugs, and forces Pops to sit down with the old lady to discuss the union's demands.

Quoth the son:  "It shamed him.  Having to sit down at the bargaining table and hear all their demands.  It took something out of him.  I figure that's why he got so drunk."

He then bashes the lady over the head with the bottle, killing her.

Obviously, he doesn't take this advice.

That's a good thing about Logan getting all his memories back: He knows there are a LOT of people with perfectly justifiable reasons to hate his guts. Whether or not this kid-now-geezer is one of them is the hook of the story.

The Highlander TV series did that once with the episode "Forgive Us Our Trespasses." In it, the Evil Immortal of the Week isn't that evil, and has a few justifiable reasons to hate Duncan.

I liked the way The Bride talks about vengeance to the children of her killed ones better.

While I feel like Logan should not have killed the guy in front of the kid, I honestly feel that this was not one of Logan's darkest moments by far

I mean, the bastard killed an old lady and who knows how many nameless workers for goodness sake. It's not like Logan offed a random dude in a bar fight.

Logan just didn't come off as the better man much though. Knifing him from the back while he's talking to his son is a little cowardly, when he doesn't even have to worry about retaliation.

Which migh be his intent. Better to know that an enemy will eventually come after you, and prepare, than leave it to chance.

Anybody else getting a Bruce Wayne origin feel from the last page? Right down to the quivering "you..you!" and the hat the killer wears(please forgive s_d, totally clueless about image tags)

Kill Bill Part 1 and a similar one in Afro Samurai.

Both of which have Samuel L Jackson in, amusingly.

The Avenging The Villain trope very rarely fails to annoy the crap put of me.

I wouldn't mind it if the person who wants to avenge the villain at least realized that the villain was, you know, bad, and still wanted to avenge him just because they loved him. That would be perfectly understandable. But that's almost never the case, the person almost always seems convinced that the villain did nothing wrong and they are outraged that he was made to pay the consequences of his actions.

"You killed the mass-murdering guy who was trying to kill you and the innocent people you care for! How could you!"

Screw you, geezer.

Having watched a documentary about the conditions of the workers at Hoover Dam I must admit that I haven't the tiniest bit of sympathy left for the contractors and their anti-union gorillas. There was some totally inhumane stuff going on during that era.
