By Me Yes, I am aware that Damian changes height and there are costume errors. Sorry. XP
Still, the last time Cass was blown up like this, it was by a French gorilla and his cyborg boyfriend and she nearly drowned. Good thing Steph's ghost showed up as her spirit guide.
I can think of a sentence containing "Jason", "dick", and "Bruce", but probably not the one you're thinking of. (But no doubt Jason would hear capital-D Dick and storm out angrily.) *hides before being shot*
As they said, while Cass was in a kind of healing coma after her fight with Lady Shiva, Steph went and impersonated her to distract some death cultist guy who wanted to be killed by "the Destroyer of the Destroyer of Worlds" or something.
A cult had arisen around Shiva, who believed that she was the avatar of destruction, you see, and Cass' defeat of her meant that they now thought that it would be the highest honour for Cass to beat them to death as well.
Steph went and defeated the guy with her smarts, and it was mostly due to Cass' spirit/hallucination giving her peptalks whilst doing so.
Specifically, due to Cass' spirit switching from 'supportive' to 'telling Steph that she wasn't good enough'. Because Steph is apparently the kind of person that reacts best to challenges, when she can prove herself against expectations. And then hallucination!Cass told her that she knew she could do it.
Damian is a twit. You never cut the wire. That only works in movies. In real life, cutting a wire just sets the bomb off or, occasionally, does nothing.
Well, in real life, bomb squads hardly ever defuse a bomb, because of how dangerous it is. They'll usually just freeze it if necessary to delay its detonation (they usually use liquid nitrogen to do this) then evacuate the area, then detonate it safely.
Cutting the wires will set most bombs off because the explosives are detonated by blasting caps, which are set off by the discharge of capacitors, which are charged by an electric circuit. Capacitors continue charging as long as the circuit is closed, but then discharge when the circuit is opened again. On a typical time bomb, when the timer reaches zero, the circuit opens, and the capacitors discharge.
If you absolutely must defuse a bomb, which, again, is extremely dangerous, you want to remove the blasting caps (very carefully), or remove the capacitors from the blasting caps (also very carefully).
Granted, I shouldn't have spoken so categorically. There are all sorts of ways to design bombs, and it certainly is possible to design a bomb where cutting a wire will deactivate it. Typically, though, bomb squads assume that cutting wires will set a bomb off.
Would I be right in guessing that the other popular movie method of defusing a bomb, stopping the timer (preferably when it says "007"), would also cause the bomb to explode?
An interesting question. Technically speaking, it would depend on what stopping the timer means is actually happening. If stopping the timer means that the circuit remains closed, so the capacitors won't discharge, then it means the bomb won't explode, as long as that situation continues. The bomb, however, is not defused, which means it still could explode. Of course, if the circuit remains closed, the battery will eventually die, at which point, the capacitors will likely discharge, and then...boom. On the other hand, if stopping the timer means the circuit opens, then, again...boom. So, while it again must be noted that there are all sorts of ways to design time bombs, you should assume that stopping the timer at best renders the bomb meta-stable.
I'm still not sure why her sleeves evaporated like that, she was holding Damian.... to her sider.... as she was leaping away from the bomb. I also thought the Batgirl costume, which is what the Black Bat costume is made of, was bullet-resistant? She's been shot several times, the costume has never actually stopped any bullets (again, what the hell Bruce?*) but it should have still outlasted the weird bandage-thing Cass has going on with her forearms, ergo at least one of them should have been destroyed.
Those bombs also weren't very big, why couldn't they have just attached it to the grappling-hooks? They've been shown to be powerful enough to punch clean through steel, attaching maybe 25lbs. to it and then launching it as far away as possible using the same thing is plausible....though dangerous. Heck, Wayne Tower is really tall , you could have tossed it out a window, and no one cares about Penguin's place, except Oswald Cobblepot, obviously.
I don't mean to nit-pick, but there are some really obvious problems with everything going on so far, most of them kinda petty.
*I've been of the opinion that Bruce has treated Cass worse than any of his other associates, with the exception of Superman.
The bandages were to protect her hands and forearms when blocking attacks and punching folk, presumably being more flexible than the usual armoured gauntlets the rest of the Bat Family wear.
I will admit they are probably a lot easier to replace (and since I've seen her punch through that costume more than once, it is kind of understandable that she wear those instead of the standard gauntlets anyway) but one of them still should have shredded before the Kevlar in her arms did.
This is right up there with Alex Armstrong flexing one arm and causing his shirt and jacket to completely explode of his body....then again that's been passed down the Armstrong line for generations(!), it has an excuse.
Cass disapproves of child abuse, what with having been the victim of one of the worst cases of child abuse in history, and beating the snot out of Damian would count as child abuse given how easy it would be for Cass.
Are you going to try telling that to a woman who can kick through bullet-resistant glass or shatter a sword with two fingers? I don't think you will be able to convince her otherwise frankly.
His temper will snap again in the future and she will be forced to protect herself, by putting him down as fast as possible, I suspect it will be very quickly.
